It’s hard to put into words the appreciation I have for Caitlin, for her bravery and sacrifice over these past nine months. All that work and those sleepless nights have paid off, and now we have an amazing baby girl. Your ability to face challenges head-on with tremendous courage and grace has always impressed me. I wouldn’t want to enter this new chapter of our lives with anyone else. I am forever grateful that we’ve been blessed with this opportunity.
There’s something beautiful about holding something you helped create. There’s a magic in the untapped potential of this small human, a tangible excitement and curiosity about what the world will look like through her eyes, which traits she will inherit from you or your partner, and which parts of her personality she will form all on her own. It’s a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the little moments in life, because time only moves in one direction.
Lastly, thank you to all of our friends, family, and community who were there for us during this process and who will continue to be there in the future. I am humbled by the love and support surrounding us. From the nurses who helped us start our journey and cared for our child so we could rest, to the people who have gifted us items or volunteered their time, we appreciate all of you.
Welcome to the world, Florence.
I genuinely don’t know what I’d do without these two girls. Adopting Penny might have been a lil spontaneous, but it’s been the best to see Ophelia lean into Pen and watch their relationship blossom over the course of a year. These two are going to be big sisters any second now and I know they’re going to love lil beanie. #internationaldogday
