Resheda “Bailey’s Mom”:
In January Bailey collapsed on 6 separate occasions (syncope episodes). I figured out what her triggers were and they stopped briefly.
The month of February started off normal
🩺 Took Bailey to the doctor for her Comprehensive Exam (told them my concerns she received 2 new medications) Unfortunately she collapsed 3 more times
*FYI - her syncope episodes last less than a minute and I document how often she has them in a month.
Bailey was taking medication for a heart murmur and a collapsed trachea.
Then suddenly things changed…. Now she was having trouble breathing which could be connected to both of her preexisting conditions.
I took Bailey back to the doctor on 2/20, they took some x-rays, and they found she had fluid in her lungs. The Vet needed the results of a radiology report before prescribing any medication for her but it was sent out to a third party for review. So I took her home not knowing her breathing would get worse.
Bailey struggled to settle down and relax. She looked uncomfortable and we thought she was in pain. By 10pm her Auntie and I were taking her to @accessanimalhospitals South Bay clinic
They coded her as Critical, after looking at her gums, gave her oxygen, and put in an IV. The ER Vet told us Bailey was in heart failure and not getting enough oxygen. She was essentially drowning because of the fluid in her lungs. We had to make a decision - attempt to prolong her life knowing all the health ailments she’s been dealing with (she also has IVDD) or Say Goodbye 😢 We chose to let our baby go so she could be free of pain 💔🐶🌈🕊️
We were honored to be her Mom & Auntie for 13 years and would do it all over again in a heartbeat 💜
