On May 2, 2026 I had the privilege to deliver a key note speech about being a woman in Public Safety and how the work in the city of Newark has been ground breaking. I spoke about some of the ups and downs about being a woman in the work and why health and wellness is important. I talked about mental health and ways to Improve your mental health when you are doing public service. We had some table top talks with other officers, Mayors from surrounding Municipalities such as East Orange, Orange, Irvington and Hillside...and they shared their stories of trauma and what led them to the work....we quickly learned that we have more in common than differences...

I had an amazing time at the NASW conference. I shared the stage with some amazing women that are changing the world and they are social workers. They are writing books, teaching , being entrepreneurs and everything else. Private Practice and Mental Health has a place but Social workers change the world and can do anything..... I am a proud Socialworker, LCSW

Thank you to the NASW for allowing me to share my work as a Social Worker while serving as Deputy Mayor for Public Safety in the City of Newark. I spoke about being able to achieve anything you want and not allowing social work to keep you in a box of casemanagement or just Mental Health and Therapy

I’ve been sitting with a deep sense of gratitude and excitement about life lately… the kind that reminds you that you’re walking in purpose.....not just working, but truly living your dream. This week April 26- 29th I will have the honor of presenting at the National Association of Social Workers Conference. And I can’t help but reflect on the journey From being trained as a social worker… being an activist , serving as Deputy Mayor of Public Safety for the City of Newark!!! And Now Being a National Figure!! Who would have ever thought? Social work didn’t limit me—it expanded me. It gave me the tools to lead! To every social worker out there: Do not box yourself in. Do not shrink your vision. Do not believe that your degree defines your ceiling. We belong in boardrooms. We belong in government. We belong in spaces where decisions are made. Go into uncharted lanes. Create new pathways. Make history. Because the world needs more of us...not just in traditional roles, but in leadership, policy, and power. I’m walking proof that it’s possible. #SocialWork #NASW #PurposeDriven #PublicSafety #Leadership MakeHistory UnchartedPaths BlackWomenInLeadership WomenInLeadership

April 24. 2026 I am truly honored to be recognized by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office during National Crime Victims' Rights Week. This acknowledgment is bigger than me.. reflects the collective commitment to community safety, healing, and violence prevention happening every day across Newark and Nationally. We know that true public safety means centering victims, supporting families, and building systems rooted in trust, accountability, and care. A heartfelt thank you to Pamela McCauley and Ted Stephens for this recognition and for your continued partnership in advancing justice and support for victims and survivors. Together, we will continue to stand in the gap, uplift our communities, and ensure that every voice is heard and every life is valued. #CommunitySafety #ViolencePrevention #VictimsRights #NewarkStrong #PublicSafety

Happy 57th Birthday Roger Leon. ...So I get to the party early all proud of myself.....When I get there I read the kiosk and it says " ALL WHITE ATTIRE" ..OMG I AM HERE EARLY CUTE AND WRONG!!!...LOL.... So I leave my good parking space in the front and run home and change my clothes. Thank God I had a dress hanging up in the closet that I could throw on.....I rushed to get dressed and go back to the party before the grand entrance by the Man of the Hour....I lost my good parking space and walked in to see everyone dressed in white...Moral of the story...READ THE DAMN INVITATION....READING IS FUNDAMENTAL....
