🌞🌿 This weekend, are you heading outdoors? We love seeing our Keep Britain Tidy community out in nature. Whether you are litter picking, relaxing in a @GreenFlagAward park, or spending time at your local waterway, please remember to keep yourself safe and protected when the sun is out. This Sun Awareness Week is a reminder to enjoy the outdoors safely. Use sunscreen, wear clothing that protects you from the sun, and seek shade when you need it. 💚 #SunAwarenessWeek #KeepBritainTidy #LoveWhereYouLive #GetOutside #SunSafety

🚶‍♀️🌿 Have you been out for a walk today? It’s National Walking Month, and this year charity @livingstreets is highlighting that for many women and girls, walking is multi-purpose, often combining school runs, caring responsibilities and errands. The environment is for everybody, to exercise, walk and relax, which is why our Safer Parks for Women and Girls research matters. So whether you are an avid walker or stepping out intentionally for the first time, find a local route that feels comfortable and get walking for yourself. 💚 #NationalWalkingMonth #WalkOut #KeepBritainTidy #SaferParks #LoveWhereYouLive

🚯 Tougher action on fly-tippers is here! Offenders now risk losing their driving licence under tougher court powers. The government has announced that fly-tippers could receive between three and nine penalty points per offence, with repeat offenders facing disqualification if they reach 12 points. The measure, included in our Fly-Tipping Action Plan developed with Keep Britain Tidy’s Network members, had the support of 93% of local authorities. Elsewhere, the Government’s plans include: ✔️ Fines, prison or community sentences already apply ✔️ Up to 20 hours of clean-up work for offenders ✔️ Costs of waste removal charged back ✔️ Zero tolerance for waste crime Head to our website for more on our work to #FightFlyTipping

It’s time to Keep Britain Untidy for #NoMowMay 🌼 @plantlife_uk ’s No Mow May is one of the easiest ways to help the environment. Simply let your lawn grow wild. Wildflowers like daisies, dandelions and clovers can bloom, providing food and habitat for bees, butterflies and other pollinators 🐝🦋 Even small wild patches add up to make a huge difference for nature. Let’s put the mower away and help nature thrive🌱 #NoMowMay #KeepBritainUntidy #Plantlife #Pollinators #Wildflowers #NatureRecovery

⚠️ Millions of tonnes of food are wasted every year in the UK, despite much of it still being perfectly edible. This #StopFoodWasteDay, let’s take a step towards changing that. We can all play a part in reducing food waste. Small changes help: 🥕 Plan meals 🥡 Use leftovers ❄️ Freeze food before it goes to waste Wasting less food helps protect the environment and reduces unnecessary waste 💚 #StopFoodWasteDay #KeepBritainTidy #WasteLess
