INTRODUCING OUR ARTISTS…
Dering Studio is the workshop of Ben Wheeler, who designs and makes furniture with a focus on handcrafted solid wood. He utilises traditional colouring techniques like ebonising and fuming to emphasise the natural beauty of the timber and his work is often influenced by the greats of mid-century design.
Ben, along with his apprentice Myles, makes everything from scratch, from small everyday items like whittled coffee scoops up to fully working tambour door kitchens. His handmade kitchens reflect his love of real wood and furniture making.

INTRODUCING OUR ARTISTS…
NAT MAKS and Brogan Cox come together to combine Nat’s fluid ink marbling with Brogan’s contemporary woodwork, creating functional, sculptural tables inspired by nature’s rhythm and the raw beauty of their coastal home in Margate. The pieces are crafted from solid, English-grown sycamore, and manufactured at the Sebastian Cox workshop, using a hybrid approach: CNC machining for precision, and extensive hand-finishing to retain the warmth and nuance of craft. Each table is then hand-dipped in marbled ink - the fluid markings wrapping the wood in a gesture reminiscent of waves washing ashore.
TIDES is more than a table collection - it’s a love letter to overlooked materials, to the sea, and to slow, intentional making. It’s also a reflection of a partnership between two female makers who are quietly helping to reshape the conversation around craft, collaboration and materiality. It couldn’t be a craft show in Margate without including this jubilant work.

INTRODUCING OUR ARTISTS
Alena Mukhina’s ceramic sculptures explore transformation—not as a singular event, but as a continuous, layered process. Her biomorphic forms emerge from clay that resists finality, shaped by time, touch, and tension. Deeply textured and unglazed, her surfaces retain the raw, natural tones of the material itself, often infused with fragments of previously fired ceramics. This practice—mixing the old into the new—embodies a quiet philosophy of renewal and return. Alena lives and works in Folkestone and her work is fascinating.

Keep Show is thrilled to host a session with Hettie Judah following the publication of her book How to Enter the Art World after … a late start , a first career, illness, raising children, a crisis of confidence, leaving it in disgust...
Can you make it without going to art school? Can you get back into the art world after years away? And what does success actually mean? How to Enter the Art World is a grown-up guide for any artist whose life is complicated, demanding and, well, human. Informed by years spent working with artists and dozens of candid interviews, it is a myth-busting bonanza full of insights, ideas and inspiration. Frank, funny and occasionally forthright, this is your friend on the path (back) into the art world.
Keep Show will host presentations by some of the artists in the exhibition, followed by an extended group Q&A during which all are invited to pose their burning questions to Hettie.
Booking essential, tickets are limited to 30. Link in bio.
18.00-20.00
Monday 22nd June
The Pie Factory, 5 Broad Street, Margate, CT9 1EW.
Hettie Judah is a writer and curator of the acclaimed exhibition Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood. The author of numerous books on art, she is well known as a critic, columnist, broadcaster and advocate for artists’ rights.
Announcing our final lineup…
Please join us in celebrating our deep devotion to craft as we bring together some of the finest artisans from across our storied Kent coastline.
KEEP presents a curated selection of artists and makers, showcasing a range of contemporary fine craft, rooted in substance, creativity and a shared ethos for materiality. This show will demonstrate traditional and innovative craft techniques, presented to a high standard and featuring no paintings. Amplifying artisanal, decorative art objects formed from natural materials such as wood, ceramics, textiles and stone, the show will appeal to those who have an appreciation of heritage crafts and work made by hand.
