This is the album that completely flipped my opinion. End of Beginning stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard it, and it still hits just as hard now. Decide feels confident and fully realized, blending nostalgia and modern indie in a way that feels effortless. Spinning this on the black and white quad split vinyl makes it even better.
My wife and I loved Stranger Things from the start, but I’ll admit I had an immediate and irrational dislike for Joe Keery and his character. Mostly because my wife liked his hair. He eventually won me over though, and I nearly lost my mind for a solid seven seconds when he slipped into the finale. Watching him grow into Djo and put out music this good sealed it. Over the next couple weeks, I’ll be featuring a few artists tied to a Stranger Things theme.

Die hard Bills fan since birth, so anything tied to Micah Hyde is already going to get my attention.
Matching the Orange Shandy @hydeshailmary with Channel Orange just felt right for the first post in this series. And honestly, Micah means a lot to Buffalo. One of those players that completely embodied the culture shift of this era of Bills football. Leader on and off the field, huge part of bringing this team back to relevance, and just universally loved here.
The drink itself is super smooth too. Definitely one of the better tasting releases I’ve tried lately.
Hard to beat Frank Ocean and Buffalo football in the same night.

It’s funny because I only vaguely remembered Cam from American Idol, but somewhere along the way he completely won me over.
The Hard Way feels really lived in. Messy in the right ways, honest, and the kind of record that sounds better the more time you spend with it.
Also had to sing along because “Hundred Mile High” is absolutely my rage song at this point.
Always cool seeing someone grow way beyond where you first discovered them.

This song honestly changed the way I listened to music growing up.
“American Pie” was probably the first song that got me hooked on long, complicated lyrics. I remember being completely determined to learn every single word, which felt impossible at the time.
There was just something about how massive the story felt. Even before I fully understood all the references, I knew it was special.
Running the red, white, and blue tri-color pressing for this one, which honestly fits the album perfectly.
Still one of those songs that pulls me right back every time I hear it.

Dermot Kennedy genuinely might have the best voice in music.
We first found him through his Tiny Desk concert in August of 2018 with the Howard Gospel Choir backing him, and were immediately blown away. One of those artists where you stop whatever you’re doing the second he starts singing.
There’s just so much weight in his voice. Doesn’t matter if the production is huge or stripped all the way back, it always feels raw and real.
Spinning the blue pressing and not came with this sick the signed insert, and honestly this album deserves a version this clean.
Still one of the most powerful vocalists out there.

Spent some time with this one again today and forgot how much personality is packed into it.
After fun. split up, I remember being really curious what Nate would sound like on his own. Grand Romantic somehow still feels huge and theatrical, but way more personal at the same time.
His voice has always been one of those instantly recognizable ones for me. Doesn’t really matter what project he’s attached to, it always sounds like him in the best way.
Still wish we got more solo material after this.

Alliance Authentic sent me this collector’s copy of Live From Fenway Park and this one was never meant to be opened.
What they’re doing is actually really cool. Alliance works directly with labels and artists to create authenticated archival vinyl releases that are meant to stay preserved as collector pieces. Everything is serialized, NFC verified, and documented almost more like memorabilia than a standard record release.
As someone who’s been a Noah fan since the beginning, seeing this era preserved like this is honestly awesome.

“This account is not fun” because fun. disbanded and I’d never do that to you all.
They were probably my favorite band in college, so hearing they split up back then genuinely sucked. Pulled out the Vinyl Me, Please exclusive pressing of Aim and Ignite for this one, and it still sounds just as good as I remember.
There’s so much personality packed into this album. Huge hooks, weird little details, and Nate Ruess sounding like absolutely nobody else.
The recent The Format release definitely helped though. The world is just better with more Nate’s voice in it.
