Today is Mr. Kevin’s 39th birthday! Kevin is my home, my heart, and so often my joy. Big days and anniversaries aren’t super important to us, (although next year when he turns 40 it’s gonna be a big ol party) its the day to day love and gifts and laughter that show how we celebrate each other. He is my favorite person and if you know him he is probably your favorite too. Happy Birthday my love. I’m so glad we spend our years together.
A man of discerning taste. He has a penchant for Tomfoolery and Liqueur made by Monks. This month has been stressful as heck but Mr. Kevin still manages to cultivate joy and laughter in our life.
If you saw me at any point in the last 13 years, you saw me on a day that I was a little bit happier because of Cole.
If you see me at any point for the rest of my life, you’ll see me on a day that I’m a little bit more sad because he’s gone.
So the location doesn’t exist anymore but our love sure as hell does.
On this day 12 years ago Jourdan and I laid eyes on each other for the first time. We went to Swoon Dessert Bar in North Park. She had bangs and blonde hair, I had a weird beard, it was a different time. The world has changed, we have changed, but we’ve weathered all those changes together, and I can’t imagine trying to survive this world without her. Happy anniversary my love.
12 years ago I went on a first date with Kevin. We are so lucky to have found each other on a dumb app while I was visiting from Oakland. He is my home now. He’s one of the soft places for me to fall in a world filled with sharp edges. He is my Rushmore.
In addition to everything being terrible this week my personal experience has been 👎🏻. Wednesday night/ Thursday morning I had emergency surgery for a hernia. I’ve been laid up since. The healing isn’t as quick as I think it should be. So that’s frustrating. I have a ton of limitations on what I can physically do for a while. But I can make crafts in bed. J.L. Bedcraft at your service. My mom, Kevin, Rocky have been taking good care of me and I’m fortunate to have others checking in. My heart is sad about so much. And I’m limited in my ability to anything about anything on all fronts. I can make whistles, and emergency phone number bracelets from bed. Let me know if you want one. Be safe friends.
So wedding anniversaries are great! They’re great. And it’s a good reminder of literally the happiest day of my life thus far. I can’t believe it’s been 8 incredible years already. But the anniversary I really love is in February, and it’s the moment we first met. I still remember it and it’s the moment everything changed. We didn’t need a wedding to prove that, but I’m really glad we did it anyway. I love you.
