Kansas City, back in May of 2025 I was appointed to be your City Manager. My time with the City began in 1997 as an entry-level planner, and I have served in many capacities since then. I am a father, UW grad and Royals fan.
It is an honor to be your City Manager, and I hope to give you a glimpse of happenings around Kansas City.

Partnership keeps KC moving forward.
From the Grand Blvd. Pedestrian Bridge connecting KC to the Riverfront, to safety upgrades along 31st Street, cutting the ribbon on these projects is making KC safer, more connected and improving quality of life.
The Aladdin is one of the historic structures that has long shaped Kansas City’s skyline. Upon completion, the building will provide 122 new residential apartment units adjacent to Barney Allis Plaza, bringing new life to downtown Kansas City.
This month, Kansas City celebrates 100 years of the council‑manager form of government. Mayor Quinton Lucas and I reflected on a century of professional management, elected leadership, and a government built on collective purpose. Thank you to the KC Chamber for hosting this conversation to honor the past and envision the future.
A Hallmark moment for the @kcroyals and our city as the team announced plans today to build a new ballpark and Baseball District at Crown Center in the heart of downtown 💙

We were joined by @mayorqlucas , @kcmocitymanager , @cityoffountainsfoundation , @kansascityrosesociety , @kevinoneillkcmo , @curlsforcouncil , @ethnickc , @fwc26kansascity , @fountaincitystringquartet and our wonderful Parks Board of Commissioners to help usher in the 2026 fountain season by turning on the Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden Fountain 🌹 the sun was bright, the smiles were abundant, and our fountains are FLOWING once again!
As we prepare to welcome international visitors for the biggest sporting event in the world, having our fountains on and flowing means everything to us - they’re our namesake, our pride and joy, and pieces of history that help tell our story 💚 and we want to share them with EVERYONE!

Yesterday, Variety KC announced the Ten Parks Project, a $30 million commitment from the Mallouk Family Foundation. When the tenth park opens, no family in Greater Kansas City will be more than 10 miles from a fully inclusive, fully accessible park.

The Northland Workforce Development Center is a modern training space built to prepare students for today’s skilled jobs and refresh the Northland Career Center. On track for a 2027 opening, this is a KC investment into our future workforce and our community.
Today, Mayor Lucas and City Council introduced legislation directing City Manager Vasquez to begin negotiations with the Kansas City Royals on a proposed downtown stadium project in and around Washington Square Park and Crown Center.
A $1.9 billion investment, the proposed project is a generational opportunity that would benefit every corner of the city.
