@underground_racing set another world record sending the first Audi R8 down the quarter mile for a 6 second pass and is now the quickest and fastest by far quarter mile R8/Huracan on the planet.
Shortly after the build completion last month this stunning, full interior, street trim R8 on drag radials, owned by Sebastian afterhours, made its debut @tx2k and was a crowd favorite. Despite the massive amount of fast twin turbo R8s and Huracans at the event this newly built Underground R8 was the quickest and fastest quarter mile R8/Huracan on the property with a 7.32 @ 218 mph pass.
Sebastian only wanted to run mid 7s at 200 mph and the plan was to send it home. After seeing the potential of the build he was ready to take down the Audi R8 record of 7.2 held by another Underground Racing customer over the past few years.
Proline Racing called and told us they had just reset a radial record in a promod at Rockingham Dragway and was blown away on how well the track was prepped. It’s been years since we’ve been there and the new owners of the track welcomed us to come test with some promods and race bikes.
The very first pass we broke the R8 record running a 7.11 @ 218 mph with a 1.25 60’. We had some tire spin at the 1-2 shift but were still able to put down a 1.25 second 60’. The sun was going down while we were preparing for our next and final pass for the day and the track owner told me to put the car on kill because his track was on kill.
@kchoweth was driving and with a far from perfect pass the R8 still ran 6.94 @ 218 MPH! Just after the smooth launch the g-force was around 2.4 Gs. We were hopeful for a 6.8 around 225+ mph. Unfortunately, even with max clutch pressure the 12 plate clutch wasn’t enough to hold the power in 6th and 7th gear this time. The Motec reduced power to protect the clutch in the higher gears but thankfully it cut a 1.17 60’ time! We will install a stronger clutch and give it another shot soon.

It’s been a great bday week so far. Starting in NYC then off to Miami for the F1 race and finally to Knoxville to meet my new @cirrusaircraft SR22T named BOOST!

Underground Racing reset the quarter mile world record for the quickest and fastest Lamborghini Huracan. 7.2 at 202 MPH with driver @kchoweth as pilot in @DRAG965 's Huracan.
What's cool about this build is that it's not a stripped out race car missing interior parts or any other creature comforts that come standard in a Huracan. It has the appearance of something right out of a car show.
Drag radials were used for the 7.2 second pass. Most of the parts used to accomplish this are only available through Underground Racing. JRR ECU, Proline Racing built engine, 13 plate street clutch paired with a 1st - 7th billet gearset by EMCO and custom spec turbos from Precision Turbo.
Underground Racing once again holds the triple crown for the World record in its respective platforms. The Standing 1/2 mile at 260 MPH, Roll racing record at 237 MPH and the 1/4 mile with a 7.2 @ 202 MPH. We still just dabble at the quarter mile but we plan to increase focus at that venue soon.
