For over 40 years, the Jean Childs Young Middle School Band Program has provided Southwest Atlanta youth with 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞, 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜.
The program is now reportedly being 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 without meaningful student, parent, alumni, or community input, and supporters say the band room may soon be cleared out.

Without consulting district officials, the Mays cluster, and community stakeholders, the current administration at Jean Childs Young Middle School has decided to terminate the band program at the school.

This holiday season is always about spreading love! We were able to provide for 4 children this Christmas season, by providing warm clothes and granting them gifts from their wishlist! Thanks to our friends at The Wellness Playground (@thewellnessplayground_@kkcutiepieee ) we’ll be continuing our holiday giving tomorrow by giving away Kroger gift cards to those shopping !
