Meet Flor Quiñones, one of our Outstanding Grads 🎓
From Venezuela to Grand Rapids, Flor found more than a degree at Kendall College of Art and Design, she found belonging.
“Every day I’m reminded that I belong here because I am different.”
Along the way, she earned multiple ADDY Awards for her work, proving that her perspective is powerful. KCAD prepared her through real-world critique, collaboration, and hands-on design thinking that’s already translating into career opportunities.
Her advice?
↪️ "Take care of your heart, honor your roots and celebrate where you come from."

At KCAD, creativity never takes a day off, but especially on Halloween! 🪡👻 The beloved annual costume contest returns this year, bringing the magic, the artistry, and all the community spirit we know and love.
Happening tonight! ✨ Join us in the #KCAD FLEXgallery starting at 5pm for the reception of "Tension & Tenderness," featuring artists Michael Pfleghaar (@pfleghaar ) and Lisa Walcott (@lisawalcott ).
Through vibrant still life compositions and kinetic sculptural gestures, both artists render the familiar strange and the mundane poetic. Together, their practices explore stillness and movement, structure and fragility, humor and vulnerability, inviting viewers to reconsider the weight of wonder and ordinary things.
"Tension & Tenderness" is on view through Nov. 15 in the KCAD FLEXgallery (WNF Building, 17 Pearl St NW).
