šŸŽ€ Hi Friends! šŸŽ€ With the influx of new friends (and my need to update my age), I figured I’d reintroduce myself! Welcome to my corner of #booksta where you’ll find lots of ARC reviews, junk journal spreads, and pictures of my sweet girls šŸ’•. When I’m not reading or journaling, I’m working in academic advising or taking hot girl walks with my husband. Thank you so much for joining me on my reading journey and for supporting me for over 3 years! #bookstagram #books #arcs #rhodeisland #junkjournaling #catsofinstagram #academicadvising #paperbacks #ebooks #hardcover #kindle #introduction #creative #thriller #horror #romance #nonfiction

Arielle Becker doesn’t quite believe in love, despite how many weddings she has been in. It also doesn’t help that every wedding also has the same (hot), annoying wedding singer, Judah Klein. Judah is the perfect Jewish boy - and the most eligible bachelor in New York City (or maybe the world). After numerous run-ins, Arielle makes a joke at one wedding that Judah is her boyfriend and, surprisingly, he goes along with it for that night. But soon, that night turns into multiple months of chance encounters and increasing tensions. Arielle isn’t ready to settle down, but Judah is not one to fully embrace hook-up culture - or is he? The tension between the two can be cut with a knife, and it’s not going away any time soon, even when Judah meets someone else while on a holiday getaway. As the old saying goes, forever a bridesmaid, never a bride, but maybe Jonah can change Arielle’s mind. This was super fun and cute! I read 50% in one night because I could not leave these two behind. Although I do not know anything about Jewish culture, especially weddings and dating, I didn’t find this to be a barrier to my enjoyment. Adler does provide a glossary in the back with detailed explanations of the different events and values, but even without reading this, you’ll get a good idea for what is going on. I loooooved seeing how Arielle and Jonah brought each other out of their shells. The chemistry is...PHEEWWWWW!! It is on the spicy side, but nothing super explicit. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to see what else is up Adler’s sleeve for the future. Thank you to @netgalley , @stmartinspress , and @missdahlelama for a copy of this book. I received this ARC for free and am leaving a review voluntarily. #arcreview #soonbyyou #romance #reading bookstagram

Unbeknownst to Jules Delaney and Quinn Riley, May 1st, 1992 (and every May Day after) is going to be a day that haunts them for the rest of their lives. Jules is targeted by the infamous May Day Killer and is lucky enough to survive the attack. Meanwhile, Quinn is arrested that night for nearly killing someone. The reader gets a glimpse into their lives each May Day for a decade as Jules and Quinn continue to process the events of that night and how their lives continue to change as a result. As more lies and secrets are uncovered, Jules’ and Quinn’s experiences are more alike than not. And for both of them, the perpetrator is closer than they’d like to admit. This is Alex Finlay’s best work yet! I flew through this in two days because it was SO good. Every time I had an idea about what was going on, I was miles off. I also liked the unique take of this book. Unlike some of his others, this one was very relationship-based. Although Jules and Quinn aren’t always together at each check-in, it is written so that their stories are intertwined, even if the characters may not think so. There’s an undertone of ā€œthe one who got awayā€ too. Normally, I wouldn’t like the romantic aspect in a thriller, but this works so well in this story. I can’t say too much without giving anything away, but trust me, this is one you should not miss. If you haven’t read Finlay’s books before, this would also be a great starting point! Thank you to @netgalley , @minotaur_books , and @alexfinlayauthor for a copy of this book. šŸ’ Happy Mother’s Day to my Momma (@maryannsdance ) šŸ’ This Mother’s Day, I’m asking for your help to give her the greatest gift! She’s currently in the Top 10 of the @votesupermom competition. Not only will she win some excellent prizes, but this win would give her a platform to bring awareness to #fetalalcoholspectrumdisorder and the need for supports for adolescents. My brother was recently diagnosed with FASD and my mom has been his biggest advocate from the day we began fostering him. Now that he’s nearing adulthood, she continues to fight for him so he has the supports he needs to thrive down the road. She’s so deserving of this award as she’s also paying for any supports out of pocket. Plus, she (we) hasn’t taken a vacation in over 8 years!! Please help my mom reach her goal. Even sharing this post is greatly appreciated. The link to vote is in my story and on my linktree! Thank you SO much! #mothersday #competition #massachusetts #specialneeds

Lindsay Weinberg has been kicked out of boarding school - again. This time, however, instead of sending her to another school, her parents are shipping her off to Maine to live with her aunt and uncle. She thinks she’s here just as a punishment, but she’s actually on the farm with four other teens to be ā€œreformed.ā€ Something isn’t adding up about this farm, though. Her Uncle Levi is nowhere to be found, there are too many religious verses embroidered throughout the house, and there’s a mysterious island that nobody wants to talk about. As soon as Lindsay and the other teens meet two inhabitants of The Cove, their lives are changed forever. One of them goes missing, another is seriously injured, and the others are fighting to survive. Something darker than they could ever imagine is lurking just a short distance away from Haven House. I went into this blind, and I was pleasantly surprised! The Cove is a YA horror, so it’ll also be good for anyone who doesn’t like too much gore or scary elements, but it definitely keeps you on your toes. The beginning drags a bit, which is where it loses half a star for me, but once everything ramps up, you can’t tear yourself away. I love a gothic horror, and this has the vibes I’m looking for. I’m also a New England native, so I enjoyed the nods to my area - especially Old Sturbridge Village. I could definitely see this taking place in a few of the towns in Rhode Island, too (no offense, Lil Rhody, I love you)! This is a fast-paced, easy horror for anyone looking to add some spooky vibes to their summer reading! Just maybe don’t read it on the beach. Or on your uncle’s farm. I’ll be on the lookout for future releases from Claire Rose in the future! Thank you to NetGalley, Wednesday Books, and Claire Rose for a copy of this book. I received this ARC for free and am leaving a review voluntarily. #netgalley #arcreview #thecove #horror #bookstagram

🩵 Indie Author Spotlight: @authordallassmith 🩵 If you’re looking for heartwarming (and -breaking) queer romances, look no further! Dallas crafts beautiful stories that also highlight neurodiversity and chronic illness. I fell in love with her after reading Queried Sick and haven’t stopped consuming everything she’s written! For this month’s theme with @forkeepsandink is supporting creators and celebrating wins. Naturally, I had to support Dallas! It was so fun picking out items that the characters in her books may purchase or that match the vibes of the books. 🩷 What indie author do you love to hype up?! Check out the link in my bio to shop at For Keeps & Ink! If you use my code KATELYN10, you can save 10%! Also, don’t forget to check out Dallas on Amazon or her storefront on her website! šŸ’• #forkeepsandink #authordallassmith #indieauthor #bookstagram #collab

Olivia Lupo has put her entire life on hold to be there for her grandmother, Annie. Annie has dementia, and Olivia cannot fathom being far away for long periods - just in case. While preparing for a three-week stay with her stepmother’s family. Olivia discovers mementos from an unspoken trip to Martha’s Vineyard, conveniently where the family reunion is going to be held. Olivia sets out to retrace Annie’s steps and recreate the memories Annie has left unspoken. The trip also brings a summer fling with Connor, a long-lost camp friend who is babysitting for two of her step-cousins. Olivia is conflicted, not willing to let someone else in while her grandmother is dying, but also longing for someone who understands her for who she is. This summer is not only about connecting with Annie’s past, but also discovering what Olivia’s future could be. This was such a super cute read! I have been meaning to read K.L. Walther’s books, so I was thrilled to have gotten this opportunity. As a Massachusetts native, I loved all of the connections to the area and feeling ā€œback at home.ā€ I would have liked some more depth with the relationship between Olivia and Connor, but I cannot complain too much since it’s a YA book. I loved the premise of Olivia ā€œgoing back in timeā€ to the places Annie visited! I immediately knew what Annie’s connection to the island would be, but that did not take away from my enjoyment of the book. Overall, I definitely recommend this for your next quick beach read! Although it’s a YA book, it doesn’t come off that way throughout most of the story. I’ll definitely be prioritizing more of Walther’s books in the future! Thank you to @netgalley , @sourcebooksfire , and @klwalther9 for a copy of this book. I received this ARC for free and am leaving a review voluntarily. #arcreview #netgalley #romance #thesummerofsecondchances #bookstagram

Nat Cassidy promises a host of dark detours, and he absolutely delivers. I have been dying to read Rest Stop for years, but never got around to it, and boy, does it live up to the hype! The vignettes that follow this spooky opener keep you looking over your shoulder to make sure the terror isn’t in the room with you. Each short story catches you off guard and exposes you to the horrors lurking just around the corner. I especially enjoyed ā€œThe Art of What You Want,ā€ ā€œLaughlines,ā€ and ā€œJubilee Juncture.ā€ If you are a fan of Cassidy’s full-length novels, you’ll of course enjoy this selection. However, if you haven’t given him a chance yet, this is a great introduction to his work. I highly recommend this collection to all horror fans! I don’t want to give too much away, but you’re truly in for a treat! Thank you to @netgalley , @shortwavebooks , and @catnassidy for a copy of this book. Mikey Hartford, of the famous HartMart Hartfords, has always lived a life of luxury. Now, as he’s approaching his 30th birthday, his inheritance is soon to be released. Unfortunately, his father has other plans for the large sum of money. Mikey must ā€œdo goodā€ to receive this money, and by doing good, his father means working at a summer camp for rich teens. Luckily, his 12-year-old Aunt (yes!) will be along for the journey. Camp Lore, as the name implies, is full of lore. Specifically, the mysterious death/disappearance of a former counselor and why Cabin One is off limits to all campers. Mikey and his group of campers become obsessed with this unsolved case and take it upon themselves to investigate what really went on. Danger is just around the corner at the camp, and Mikey is in the direct path. Something isn’t adding up with this case, and the closer Mikey gets to the answer, the closer he is to losing his life - and his inheritance. I loved this! The story was super cute and had Guncle vibes throughout. I kind of had an inkling about the twist, but it did not stop me from devouring this book. I also laughed every time it came up that his aunt was a 12-year old girl. I could not imagine... There’s a little bit of romance in here, too! I’d love to see more from Mikey and Jackson in the future. Maybe not a mystery but a romance - a girl can dream! Mikey starts off as absolutely insufferable, but I promise you’ll grow to love him as the story progresses. This is a perfectly campy (in all senses of the word) mystery for your summer vacation. Just maybe not at a camp or campground. Thank you to @netgalley , @poisonedpenpress , and @nicdidomiziobooks for a copy of this book. I received this ARC for free and am leaving a review voluntarily. #arcreview #netgalley #amurdermostcamp #mystery #bookstagram
