Day 2 with the National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance and the energy keeps building.
We met Nick Kor, board chair of NQAPIA, who shared the excitement of longtime members and the spark of newcomers finding this space for the first time.
We also connected with Dacity, who spoke about finally finding a queer Asian community and the importance of building connections with other queer Asians and BI sisters.
And we kept coming back to one thing: drag as activism. On the West Coast, drag has long been a tool for resistance, visibility, and power.

Day 1 with National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance and my brain is loaded in the best possible way.
Workshops that made you think, conversations that kept going way past the schedule, and a room full of people who just get it. Folks showed up from across the nation, each bringing their own queerul stories. It all just clicked.
I am honestly still thinking about everything that was shared that day. If that was just Day 1, we’re in for something special. Stay tuned for the next reels!

This week, the National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (@nqapia ) held its West Coast Convening after a long hiatus. What that meant was our hearts were full, our notes app was filled with amazing lessons from the workshops, and we had zero social battery left! 🤭
From Seattle to Utah, DC to the Pasifika region, and finally here in San Francisco, people showed up with their Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander stories, bringing smiles and joy to all attendees.
It was a beautiful reminder that, alone, we know so little. Still, together, as a diverse collective, as immigrants, and as queer and transgender people, we carry so much knowledge and power to offer to make this world a better place.
