True crime of a particularly incendiary kind! From @henryholtbooks and journalists and coauthors @kbens Katie Benner and @ebalti Erica L. Green, Miracle Children: Race, Education, and a True Story of False Promises. T.M. Landry College Prep in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana boasted 100% success. It was a cruel lie. #bnunidistrictwa #bookstagram #truecrime #blackhistorymonth2026 #education
We are truly honored to have had a sold out evening at CHB Lafayette with New York Times reporters Katie Benner and Erica L. Green for the Louisiana Book Launch of their new release, *Miracle Children: Race, Education, and a True Story of False Promises,* a yearslong investigation into T.M. Landry College Prep School.
Along with the investigation into the Breaux Bridge school, Katie and Erica’s book *Miracle Children,* chronicles the journeys of its students and Ivy League admissions to understand why Black teens were pressured to trade racial stereotypes of hardship for opportunity.
At the launch, Katie and Erica were led through the Q&A by Ashley White, the education reporter with The Acadiana Advocate and our own bookseller! During the Q&A, the reporters shared their experiences while investigating the school, working with the students and their families, and their reflections on education in Louisiana and on a national level.
Thank you to everyone who attended!
📚Signed copies of *Miracle Children* are available in the bookshop!
