I just learned that Anne Elgar Kopta, (whom I refer to as “My Diva Voice Teacher” to my students) has passed. She was unique in my world. Honestly, after four years of her training, guidance, and love I have never truly needed another voice teacher beyond a brush-up here and there. She gave me the tools to work and such a solid foundation and understanding of my instrument that I have been able to build and grow on that ever since. So many of the exercises I use when I teach, are hers. So many of the ways I explain the production of sound to my students, come from her. And I am the luckiest, because not only am I still performing, myself, but I also get to see the results of her instruction in the growth of my own voice students.
And now, as I read the tributes that are being posted from other former students of hers, I see how vast her influence has been. She called herself a “Voice Builder.” She was, well and truly.
Rest in peace, dear Anne. Your legacy will live on as long as there are songs to be sung.

Lilyanna is in Vienna with her school chorus, rehearsing for a concert at the Minoritenkirche. She’s going to kill me for posting this, but I’m so proud of her! I performed this piece in my senior voice recital at CMU. Those intervals are TOUGH! ❤️❤️❤️

So, so proud of this kid. She just completed her 2nd big round of auditions, at Chicago Unifieds. Words cannot describe the pressure, chaos and competition present in those Palmer house halls. Did she cave? Did she crumble? NOPE! SHE NAILED IT!!! 🥰👏🏼❤️🎉🤞🏼👯♀️🎭🙌🏼
