Even though there may be one too many “R’s” in his last name, I think we’ll let it slide with this @kazrog Michael Brauer MHB Red Model 666.
So… I‘ve owned every single hardware compressor worth owning EXCEPT a Fairchild. And if this plugin is any indication, I’ve made a grave mistake.
On vocals? I suspect this may be my main vocal compressor for the foreseeable future. And it’ll get plenty of use on other sources as well. Attack, ratio, release, and threshold. Ya… so do most compressors. But there is no describing how this is making a truly dynamic vocal sit in a mix. It’s stupid to try to describe sonically, but Kazrog and MB did an incredible job with this thing. Whether or not I’ve ever heard the hardware is irrelevant as far as I’m concerned because this just works remarkably well.
Right now it’s on a vocal and a bass track. If I wasn’t well into the mix I’m working on, I’d be trying it on the mix bus. There’s an additional set of parameters on another page that provides hi and low pass sidechain filters, in and out gain, wet/dry balance and an entropy control that deals with stereo sources.
By now, if you follow me, you already know I’m not a “content creator” and I only post about new tools that blow me away when I’m mixing.
This is one of them. I’d say demo it. But don’t bother. Just get it. It’s truly that simple. I’m fairly sure they won’t run out, unlike the hardware.
And for the “record,” It’s my name people tend to add an “R” too. It’s Bauer. But I’ve been missing this Fairchild world for a long time. Apparently.
