This National Small Business Week was definitely one for the books and we want to give a special thanks to all of our colleagues, ecosystem partners, sponsors, vendors, members and guests who all played a part no matter how big or small in making it possible. It was truly a week of impact, cultivation, inspiration and celebration for small businessowners in the DFW Metroplex and getting to close it off with our 2 year anniversary celebration was truly heartwarming.

Lately, I've been really appreciative of being in a place of awareness and acknowledgment. It is one thing to be aware of something, but it is another thing to be able to acknowledge where it stems from. Then, if it's something that needs to change, being willing to take the necessary steps to adjust.
Awareness:
I'm a bit of a workaholic and struggle with work-life balance. 😪
Acknowledgment:
🌿When I transitioned my hobbies into my career, my career became my hobby and what I focused on in my free time. It seems so simple now that I've typed it out. Wow! 🤦🏾♀️ Now that I absolutely love what I do for work, it is easy to immerse myself into whatever I'm doing.
🌿Some of my over-working habits come from the feeling of needing to overcompensate because I never finished my undergraduate degree program after withdrawing from school due to a health scare.
🌿It also comes from a fear of lack or instability. I grew up in multiple homes and environments, so once I was able to get my own place and have one space to come back to, I never wanted to lose that feeling of safety, security and stability.
🌿I have always prided myself on showing those who sacrificed for me that it was worth it, especially after I didn't obtain my degree, which came with a certain sense of failure.
🌿I hate to bring up the "C-word," but Covid changed me. I was way more extroverted in my personal life prior to the pandemic, but I'm definitely more introverted post-pandemic. Additionally, now that my professional life is very forward-facing and high energy, my only place to recover is in my place of solitude, which makes it easier to not go OUTSIDE in my free time.
I'll speak more about the adjustment part on my new blog that will launch next month, but I'm excited to share more.
