Flying with the eagles š¦
Starting the week off with one of the most beautiful scenes that I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing. A fever of Ocellated Eagle Rays (Aetobatus ocellatus) cruising through the shallows at dusk, looking for their next meal.
Such a peaceful moment, I sat and watched them from my drone for half an hour in the fading light of the day as they effortlessly glided through the waters close to shore.
One clip from of my favourite scenes in my upcoming short film entitled āThe Reefā.

An aerial view can change your entire perspective
Drones have become an incredible tool for studying and documenting wildlife over recent years. They unlock a totally new perspective on animals that can completely change how we see and understand their behaviours.
The Grey Whales of Baja California are prime examples of an aerial perspective giving us a better look at the full picture. From boat level, you can see a fin here and there, a blowhole spurt and maybe an eye when a whale is close by. From the sky, you can not only gauge the sheer size of these whales, but you can better see their curious and playful behaviours.
Turning their heads to get a better look at those aboard the boats, and even rolling on their bellies like dogs - seeing these behaviours from this vantage point is truly fascinating.

Sounds of the storm š§ļøš
Thereās no feeling quite like being below the waves during a storm. The complete calm underwater in contrast to the craziness of the storm above the waves.
The unique perspective of watching the rain drops fall above you, as you rise through the water to the cacophony of sounds above.
Have you ever been snorkelling during a storm?

There are some encounters underwater that completely slow time down.
This oceanic manta was one of them. No sudden movements. Just effortless movement through the blue.
What I love most about encounters like this is knowing that this isnāt just a manta ray. Itās an individual animal with its own movement patterns, history, and identity.
This individual is identified as MV-MB-0615 in the @mantatrust@maldivesmantaconservation database. Only the second time this individual has been sighted. The first time was almost exactly 7 years ago to the date, on 11th April 2019.
Every identification helps researchers better understand migration, behaviour, and population health
- a reminder that photography can be more than just creating beautiful images. It can help document and protect the species weāre lucky enough to encounter.
I wonder where heās been and what adventures heās had in those 7 yearsā¦.

Wildlife filmmaking rarely happens in controlled environments.
Itās heat, dust, unpredictable light, fast-moving subjects, and moments that disappear in seconds.
Thatās why having gear you can actually rely on in the field matters so much.
Iāve been using the @hollyland.eu Pyro 5 throughout recent shoots, and itās quickly become one of those tools I donāt want to film without - especially when working in harsh environments where seeing your image clearly can make all the difference.
From desert wildlife encounters to remote expedition filmmaking, itās been a game changer for monitoring shots in the field.

Thereās something about seeing an oceanic whitetip shark that is impossible to forget.
The way they move. The confidence. The eye contact.
Once abundant in the oceans, seeing one now is not only a rarity, itās a privilege š¦

I thought I was filming the elephantā¦. until I realised something else was watching from the trees.
Moments like this are why wildlife filmmaking are so addictive to me. You can spend hours focused on one story - then suddenly the entire scene changes.
We had pretty much given up hope of seeing a leopard on this day, then one decided to surprise us. I love the moment of tension between the leopard and the water buffalo before the big cat realises itās in the wrong place at the wrong time.
How would you have reacted in this moment?

Where the ocean gives life, it also demands respect. š
Peixinho tells the inspiring story of a young man in a remote coastal village in Mozambique who is reshaping the future of his community. By teaching children how to swim, improving water safety, and challenging unsustainable fishing practices, he becomes a bridge between generations, tradition, and change.
This is a powerful story of resilience, leadership, and living in balance with the sea.
Directed by Kaushiik Subramaniam, an award-winning wildlife filmmaker known for stunning visuals and meaningful conservation storytelling, Peixinho has been nominated for Best Short Film and Best Emerging Film at PWFF. š„

Some trips remind you exactly why you fell in love with the ocean in the first place.
This was one of them.
Over the past week in the Maldives, we shared the water with 5 species of sharks - from powerful tigers, to the elusive oceanic whitetip. And just when you think it couldnāt get better.⦠giant oceanic manta rays gliding effortlessly through the current, and a rare, unexpected encounter with an olive ridley turtle.
It wasnāt just the sightings though. It was island life, the early mornings, the anticipation before every drop, and that feeling when everything comes together underwater.
These are the moments that stay with you.
If this is something youāve been dreaming about... my 2027 expedition dates are now live. Same wild encounters, same raw ocean, and a small group of likeminded divers and storytellers.

This shark might be the reason I do what I doā¦.
When I was 7 years old my mum took me to London aquarium (because I loved animals of course). In the main oceans tank there were a lot of pelagic fish, rays, and of course the iconic ragged tooth sharks. But it was one peculiar looking white and yellow fish that caught my attention.
The zebra shark. I was obsessed with this shark. Itās oddball look, the way it swims, itās beautiful pattern. Iāve wanted to see one in the wild ever since that day. Today, I finally managed to encounter one in the ocean, and it was pure magic.
There is something about these sharks always sparks a fire in me. Iām still as obsessed with them now as I was back then āØ
