Some artists don’t just create for themselves. They create for all of us.
The most talented artists in this industry could easily keep what they know to themselves. Instead, many of them pour that knowledge into tools, resources and generosity that make the rest of us better.
That’s not something I expected when I started face painting. But it’s something I am genuinely grateful for every single day.
I recently received a gift from the incredibly talented Irene Malvern of @katznc
This is her new focal point practice mat, and it’s really clever. If you’ve used Irene’s practice boards before, you’ll already know the quality. The material has a lovely texture that holds paint beautifully without slipping or bubbling (consistency is key, as always), and it’s fully washable and reusable. But what makes this one special are the focal point guides built into it. They’re there to help you plan your art intentionally and work those symmetry muscles we’re always trying to strengthen. The face scale is also wonderfully realistic for the age group most of us are painting every day.
This particular mat is currently only available in the US, but for everyone else, her existing range of practice boards is available through professional face paint suppliers worldwide and are absolutely worth your money.
