my honours project βsome sort of a girlβ created this year was a (red-bull fuelled) exploration of memory, nostalgia, and the way we share our identities through the way we dress. combining vintage inspirations with hand-drawn prints and vibrant colour, the final collection is a celebration of becoming a woman and finding joy in the process of evolution π (going to post some development and process work from through the year before unloading the lookbook images) πππΈ
πThe final hero, number 5 π My favourite of the pieces, hand-cut flowers in a reflective textured pleather form the base, layered with burnt plastic flowers and attached with looped seed beads πππ
πHero piece 4 π Glitter mesh base fabric adorned with hand-cut flowers with burnt edges individually attached with seed bead loops and embroidery thread ππ
πHero piece 2π This piece plays with the chainmail idea in a more fun and unexpected way. The iridescent plastic encloses a pink glitter mesh in organic shapes, and uses negative space to emphasise the irregularity of their placement πππ
β¨Hero piece 1 of Disco Babyβ¨ Exploring my version of chainmail, this piece is created with irregular circles made of an iridescent plastic that are burnt around the edges to enclose a metallic stretch fabric before being joined together with jump rings.
Disco Baby - a project for my Textiles Lab class inspired by the chainmail work of Paco Rabanne, organic shapes and rose tinted views of nights out dancing.
