“After the wild magic of the Masai Mara—complete with hippos grunting beside my tent—I was craving a bit of quiet, some lodge luxury, and uninterrupted sleep.
So I headed to Sosian Lodge, tucked away in Laikipia’s rugged bushlands. Getting there was an adventure in itself: a tiny plane dropped us onto a remote airstrip, and from the moment we landed, our game drive began.
The landscape here is gorgeous. Hills rise and fall under thick bush, and on clear days, the silhouette of Mount Kenya graces the horizon.
Sosian Lodge feels like a luxury hideaway in the bush with morning coffee delivered to my porch, gorgeous food in the most exciting locations, be it in the dining hall, in a tree house or by a hippo pond, and ponies grazing on the garden lawn was a daily delight… Yet the thrills and wildlife are just outside of the lodge - big herds of elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, impalas… And the horses are some of the best safari horses I’ve ridden.
