OPEN CALL for submissions ~ a group show to take place in the backyard at What Mary Kept (203 Knickerbocker Ave) opening the weekend of June 13+14, exact opening night TBD Please fill out the Google Form linked in my bio before May 27 to be considered for the exhibition. We wanted it to be as easy and accessible to fill out as possible <3 And don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions! The theme is open, but please keep in mind these are works that will be housed outside for a month, so outdoor friendly materials strongly encouraged. Last slides are for context of the backyard space - install images from Loretta Violante and Bobby Smith’s duo show Tippy Drifter last summer

Top Hat Polyptych / Modular Painting 12 sheets of 8.5 x 11” cardstock Oil on paper Each sheet of paper functions as one unit of the painting, but in theory this structure could expand infinitely as new units / tiles get added. Also, each tile of the painting can function individually (ideally with a fully resolved composition). This painting began with two seperate attempts to abstract Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s 1567 painting “The Land of Cockaigne”. Using those as the first two building blocks of the work, I extended the composition in a gesture that kind of manually mimics the content-aware fill tool in Photoshop. The top hat shape is inspired by my favorite video game, Professor Layton 💋

⸻ #VirreinaResidents United States / 🇺🇸 We are excited to announce the 2026 resident at ✶ LOMA SERENA Residency ✶ 💥 Kati Kirsch 💥 🫧 @katikirsch 🫧 Born in Washington, DC (1999), Kati Kirsch is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in New York. Her practice primarily takes the form of layered oil painting, while also expanding into sculpture, bookmaking, curatorial projects, and a secondhand goods shop titled Good New Dream. Her work explores the relationship between technology, craft, and objecthood, often incorporating funny, anachronistic, or obsolete forms that are repurposed and restructured as part of a world-building gesture. In this process, painting itself becomes an act of reimagining—where objects and images function as tools to construct new visual narratives.
