My firstborn is being reborn (now with a UK home!) So thankful that Woods is finally being officially published in the UK... My previous publishers Penned in the Margins went on indefinite hiatus (through no fault of their own) before they could publish the book. In an industry that is unhealthily obsessed with debuts, this obviously... wasn't ideal, but Two Dollar Radio made a valiant effort of promoting it from an ocean away (particular 🙏 to @gregorybrett ). Glad Seven Stories Press is giving it a belated UK debut. I still have great affection for this strange, creepy little book about trees and mountains and mystical visions. I wrote it at a time when I was perilously close to losing my mind, and I think it shows. Out in paperback on 16 June 2026 on @7storiespressuk in the UK and on @twodollarradio in the US

Meet @sienna.world : the Michelangelo of Geline. Geline is Murdoch’s own invention: a suspended, hydrated, flesh-like material developed during lockdown using open-source research from institutions like MIT. Its origin story? An alien feast in The Marvels (2023), a commission she nearly declined. Instead, she refined the formula into a resilient, jelly-like substance that could withstand the intensity of a film set. That decision has reshaped her career. Since then, she’s created props for film, TV and music (Gladiator II, Bridgerton, PinkPantheress), collaborated with fashion houses (Hermès, Stella McCartney, Isamaya), and worked with galleries, including a decadent spread curated with chef Skye Gyngell for the Serpentine Gallery’s summer party. @kathryn.bromwich sat down with Murdoch to talk inspirations (from sex toys to farming tools, street finds to children’s toys) and what’s next for the artist. If this doesn't deserve a grid post I'm not sure what does. Really proud of my friend Will Plastow, one of the @freethefilton24 , who has finally been granted bail after 18 months behind bars without a trial or conviction (probably the longest anyone in the UK has been held on protest-related charges). Even prouder of my beautiful, funny, principled friend @tinaknipst , who has gone through a year and a half from hell waiting for some shred of justice or decency from the judicial system. The most serious charges have now been dropped for all defendants; clearly juries have a better understanding of morality than the people in charge of this country, which of course is why they're trying to get rid of them. Before she passed away last autumn, Will's mum Jane was writing a book provisionally titled Keir Starmer's Political Prisoners. Even if those in power are morally compromised, the fact that there are people like Will and Tina out there willing to take a stand fills me with hope. Free Palestine and let love prevail 🇵🇸❤️

2025, you were awful in so many ways, to so many people. Thinking of all my beautiful friends who've gone through difficult times over the past 12 months. But there were also plenty of excellent times. Hope 2026 brings us all many more of the latter 🕊️❤️

This was a painful piece to write. I love horror, but it doesn’t always love me back. I wish I didn’t have to write this, but it keeps happening, often from people who should really know better. I love most of the films I mention here. Some are my favourite films ever made. This isn’t an attack on these particular directors, and I’m not telling anyone they can’t enjoy these films. I would just like this kind of thing to stop, so that people with disabilities can enjoy these films along with the rest of you without feeling like we’re being othered and excluded. It’s not just about villains. I beg you to start noticing the way disabled characters are used in films (and, ahem, books) in order to make you uncomfortable or create a sense of eeriness. Ableism is a much deeper societal malaise but film is sadly a platform where these issues are particularly noticeable. There are so many frightening things in the world, and in the way people treat each other. Continuing to conflate morality with appearance is lazy and meaningless. Tl;dr: we need more disabled writers/directors so we can tell our own stories 🙏 Please share

I loved writing this piece about Pina Bausch's Rite of Spring. This was an incredible production by @ecoledessables @pinabauschfoundation & @sadlers_wells , and one of the most intense performances I've ever seen. Really grateful to @anique_ayiboe , @germaineacogny , @plucky.lucky , Salomon Bausch and Josephine Ann Endicott for speaking to me for the piece. Thanks to @phjsmith @the.independent for the commission and to @sophiaikk for setting it all up
