Tablecloths for June
We gathered last weekend to celebrate my best friend June’s life and all she was. She was so much. Our friendship was filled with making art together, sharing ideas, talking about love and loss, gossiping, eating together, cooking together and most importantly laughing together. June and I were working on a project, an idea for a project, there was always one flying around. She wanted to make a series of quilts together. We weren’t able to do it but making these tablecloths for her celebration of life and all the people that love her so much felt like me completing that idea. I used appliqué to make butterflies, birds, flowers and stars, symbols that make me think of her. I miss her every single day and this is the first of many celebrations for June and one of many projects that she will inspire.
