2025 was a pretty packed year. It’s been a year of constant overwhelm, of overcommitting, of loss, but also of prioritizing more meaningful things.
In January I married my favourite person @samuelreadart . I ran a half marathon! My family sadly lost my beautiful Uncle after a long journey with cancer. I volunteered making educational graphics, debunking misinformation for the Australian Election. I painted and donated prints for charity. We road-tripped to Philip Island with animation friends. Samuel and I guest tabled at Oz Comic-Con. I took Jeremy Fenske’s amazing masterclass at CDW. Around full-time work, I helped out with some freelance work for the incredible team at Half Giant. I travelled to Melbourne twice to celebrate with my amazing team in person. I painted traditional paintings for loved ones. I started developing my own idea for an animated pitch, and worked on a personal project with the hopes of it making a difference (however small).
Work-wise I had the most fulfilling year I’ve had in the animation industry. I felt more positive about my work and was made to really feel valued and appreciated by my studio/team. I feel so incredibly lucky and grateful to be working doing what I love (designing colour and light and painting colour scripts), working with incredible people and on shows that mean so much to so many.
With the state of the world, this year has felt heavy and full of loss, but I feel like it’s emphasized the value found in human stories, connections, experiences and art. Thank you to everyone who has been working so hard to make a difference, who’s art, stories and messages inspired, educated, helped others feel less alone and gave hope ❤️

I painted this for my beautiful Uncle Mick, who passed away yesterday after an incredibly brave journey with cancer. It’s a painting of our favourite beach at Moonta, where our family spent so much time together over the years. He asked me to display it in his hospital room so he could look at it from his bed. Mick was so thoughtful, kind-hearted and cared so much about the world. He was always so encouraging and supportive of my art and would tell me how much he loved my paintings. We shared a love of art, film and photography and had so many good chats about them and the world in general. It’s so hard to believe he’s gone but I feel so lucky I got to spend time with him, say goodbye and tell him I love him. I will miss him so much ❤️
