LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach Rivian theatre hosted a special screening of our independent film, ‘From Embers’ last Saturday, January 10, 2026. It’s a thriller & drama I wrote and directed in 2023.
I was very happy to see so many of my dearest neighbors, friends, and family and movie lovers from the community come to watch and share the film with me. It’s meant a lot to me to see them enjoying the film and Great Q&A.
I live locally in Laguna Beach and really value being connected with a community and neighbors who care about one another and will cherish these memories forever. I hope to provide positivity through art and appreciate you taking time to support what I do.
And I would also like to give a special thanks to the theater manager, Jennifer, for helping me schedule the lovely Rivian Theater.

“From Embers” just took home two major awards at the 58th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival — Platinum Remi Award for Best Suspense Feature and Gold Remi Award for Best Screenplay! And I’m honored to join the Director’s Panel along with other inspiring filmmakers and share our filmmaking journey with the audience.
This film was created during the challenging months of the 2023 strike, and while the journey wasn’t easy, “From Embers” was absolutely worth it. Seeing the audience rise in applause last night made everything worthwhile.

'From Embers' We started filming on July 11th 2023 and was shut down on July 14 due to the strike. Thankfully, we were able to get our waiver on July 19 and resumed production on July 21❤️

Houston, TX—Kayla Victoria Bohan won the Best Rising Star-Actress award for her role in 《Harper》 at the 55th Worldfest Houston International Film Festival held from April 20 to 24 at Cinemark Memorial City in Houston.
《Harper》directed by Kate Bohan, was also awarded Gold Remi in the category of theatrical feature films at the Festival, which, founded in August 1961, is considered the oldest independent film festival in North America.
