One of the best compliments I get as a makeup artist is when someone gets out of my chair and says, “Wait…this is the first time I’ve actually loved my makeup.” And honestly I hear it way more often than you’d think! A lot of people have had makeup done that felt too heavy, too dramatic, too trendy, or just didn’t feel like them. 2026, wow! Almost 20 years. I started cosmetology school in 2006. I graduated in 2008. (1800 hours, yes I skipped days) I was a makeup artist for a few friends who got married during cosmetology school. I started working with Estee Lauder in 2008. I moved to Nashville in 2014. hey friends 👋🏼 little personal update. being based in Ohio, my season slowed down mid November. my next job was the first weekend of December. I accidentally left my phone charging in my car. while driving home from Detroit, I saw the message my mom was in the hospital. she had an unexpected heart attack, and was in ICU. Thankfully she survived, and is doing better every day. I really leaned in to time with family in the month of December. & took the month of January off as well. because, not working in January was the first time, in a VERY long time, I felt like my nervous system was getting more regulated. I have been eating more whole foods, and less convenient foods. This has been really important to me. being a full time travel makeup artist, it's difficult to maintain a whole food diet, or even eat regularly. one of my biggest goals for this year, was to prioritize what I consume. (without falling into restrictions and disordered eating) I don't know exactly what is to come as I integrate my business, BIO Beauty back in to my life, but right now, I foresee this being more part time than full time for 2026 🫶🏼 📸 @courtneypaigephotos
