Hey! We’re Kat King! A dream formed hundreds of years ago by me, kat king, in a little bedroom closet with a post it note, pen, and so much to say with a very limited vocabulary.
Here we are now, a five-piece born in Kansas City, six-years old together, singing more words than I knew then. We make indie pop-rock tunes together, sometimes more pop, sometimes more rock when I’m feeling scummy.
In order of who joined the band first, these are our current influences:
Me - Magdalena Bay
John - Broken Social Scene
Daniel -Chon
Derek - Cocteau Twins
Kara - Hayley Williams
In case it’s of interest, we (try to) practice weekly. Our routine is opening the door, grabbing dog treats for our queen Bridgette, making her do tricks, then once she’s pleased, we head to the basement to write and rehearse until we’re sleepy.
We’ve released three EP’s together, a handful of singles, and we’re currently getting mixes back for our debut album! The furthest from Kansas City we’ve played is Indianapolis and we’d love to drive John’s van even further this year 😤
Those are my best facts for now as I finish writing this just before midnight. Check back in a year to see what’s changed. If you’d like to learn more, please ask in the comments and I’ll answer you asap

I Might Like It is officially out! There’s a lot to say about this song but just gonna leave this quote from our @909thebridge write up:
“Realizing this concept could be an anthem was a lyrical challenge, in trying to get listeners to realize this isn’t a song about heartbreak but rather a song about accountability.”
We hope you love it, put it on repeat, and share it with every single person you know 😘

Our 4th and final single of the year, Merry Go Rounds, is out! Truly proud of the work we put into these songs. Thanks to @derekmelies for the initial guitar parts and main melody on this one. I had so much fun writing to it (on my mobile GarageBand while on a flight to somewhere?). Make it to the bridge, it’s worth it!
I know we’ve been taking y’all on a genre journey this year, and to know that any of these 4 songs have stuck with you means the world. Making music, performing, and witnessing others do it has been the most grounding and inspiring thing for me in a time where everything feels uncertain and… bad. So, thanks for the continued support of this lil project and encouragement to keep doing it. We really do put our whole butts into it 🍑 <3

5 days locked away in our control room (Tone Zone™) was a total dream and time warp. Many noises were created, nerds eaten, bad jokes made and I think this album is gonna sound really good because of it all. Lovee making music with this group <3
Not only is today Bandcamp Friday, but it’s also the first of five days that we’ll be in the studio recording our album! This has been a goal for YEARS and I’m *elated* that it’s officially happening. For real - I haven’t put out a full-length album since I was 18. That being said, we still have a ways to go to fund this project to completion, including but not limited to:
- mastering
- studio fees
- album art/photoshoots
- new merch drop
- press campaign
Help us purge our merch store so we can get closer to releasing this for y’all (& for me)! Most of these items will not be reprinted, so get em while they last.
P.s. don’t care for the merch but want to contribute?? Click our album fund at link in bio <3
