Day 1 in Iten 🇰🇪 the town where some of the fastest runners in the world are born, train, and live ❤️
Somewhere between Dubai, Nairobi, and a tiny plane flying over endless green… I remember thinking: how did I get this far?
Landing in Iten felt like arriving somewhere quieter. Remote, simple, and grounded in its own rhythm red dirt roads, open landscapes, people moving with purpose.
We were welcomed by
@kiptangluka_kandi , who helped us understand not just where we were, but how to be there. 🚐
We stayed at Lornah’s High Altitude Training Centre built by one of Kenya’s greatest runners
@lornahkiplagat , who chose to invest back into her community. A woman to admire 😍 It’s not luxury, it’s intentional. Everything serves a purpose: rest, train, repeat.
We met our pacers, local runners who ran alongside us, guided the routes, and set the rhythm. I met
@_.jerotich._ she greet me with a shy smile and quiet confidence ❤️ They are not just support, but partnership. It mattered to my coach
@ortaluis15 that this experience gave back, in some way, to the community behind the sport. 🫂
At over 2,400 meters (8,000 ft), the air is thin and the effort is real. But what stood out wasn’t the struggle, it was how normal it all felt.
Early mornings. Running together in silence. A way of life that feels simple, consistent, and shared. 🏃🏻♀️
I didn’t go there to perform. I went to witness the place, the people, the culture. 🥰
We also ran into
@amanal_petros who was kind enough to spend a few moments with us a quiet reminder of the humility behind greatness.
Grateful for the people who welcomed us and everything they shared.
Still taking it in. Still asking… how did I get this far?
