🫧🤍mermay prompt 1: longing🤍🫧 💧What do you long for what you’re longing for? Is it the comfort of familiarity? Is it the nostalgia which tints your memories into nothing but the soft pink of a rose? Is it the sense of security and safety? In the end, maybe there’s no need for justification of your feelings. Maybe you cannot do any more than dip your toes into what you long for, because if you slip too deep, you’ll be burned up in all the warmth you crave. What ever you’re longing for, you no longer have it because it rejects your being. It completely rejects you and perhaps you do not fully understand why… But perhaps the sting and burns is reminder enough of why you’re longing for such a thing, Even if it hurts, you still cling to the notion that what you’re longing for still affects you in some way. Maybe that’s enough.💧 Eight days in and I can finally post my first prompt of mermay! My new Apple Pencil came in so I’m back and swinging with art! May will be busy for me with all the collabs and prizes im schedule to post so please bear with me! As for this piece, Akoya’s story is clear for me, (but that might just be because I’m the writer/ mangaka of her fairytale). But when I write I try to draw from my own experiences or influences from media which deeply impacted me. For this prompt, I knew I wanted to introduce mermay with something directly linked to Akoya’s mindset. Being forced into a situation that you cannot return to comfort from. Whether it’s for better or for worse, shes an alien in her own life with no clear reason or explanation. She doesn’t know why she can’t touch her home any more, and for this prompt, there’s no answer I’m afraid. If you relate at all to her, I hope you know I think I understand the feeling, and I hope you know that whatever the situation is, I hope this prompt speaks to you, even though there’s no real answer. Sometimes acknowledgment is enough. Your thoughts are subjective and may shift and change like the tide. Like a week ago my apple pencil’s pressure sensitivity stopped working so I can’t make good quality art until I buy a new one, (hopefully that will fix the issue) I tried to change like the nib, restart and disconnect the devices and I deleted a lot of my old art,which is why I’m posting them here so they won’t be forever gone 🥲 I get paid at the end of the month so no new digital art til then, to my prize winners, I haven’t forgotten about you!
