I spent time with the Peony flowers today @naumkeagofficial at Naumkeag Gardens! What a perfect May morning for a self-guided tour through the terrace of Japanese Tree Peonies, some radiant King Tulips and delicate narcissus near the greenhouse and the serenity of the Chinese Garden room. There were yellow roses in full bloom beneath the cobalt blue ceramic roof. The delicate first white peony blossoms were shade by paper parasols too. The Berkshire vista from the Temple was of hillsides covered in delicate spring greenery. Delightful in every way! #peonyseason #naumkeag #flowerphotography #artinspirations
In my popular World Collage Day class : “Circular Collage for Insight & Delight” LOTS of Discoveries were made while making circular art! Thanks to everyone who registered and participated together in our fun studio at @berkshireartcenter May 9 afternoon!! It was so good to see friends, meet new folks and to see everybody interacting with group energy! My class was a crash course so to speak in thinking outside the box. Being seated in a circle making circular art was like a living, breathing, mandala!! Kicked off World Collage Day this morning with an inspiring welcome class from @berkshireartcenter led by my dear friend, @kasart
We began with a meditation, a brief history of how @kolajmagazine started WCD and some thoughtful prompts. It reminded me how much I love the creating under the guidance of Karen, such a wonderful teacher, mentor and expert in the world of Collage.
I chose “celebrate everything” because it felt perfectly intuitive to me. So I began paging through magazines I hadn’t yet opened and tore out everything that spoke to me, to glue on my substrate while chatting with friends, old and new.
In celebration of dogs in purple scarves, red bags, jewelry clad sculpture, beautiful dresses, flowers and red lips, I created this piece. Thank you for all you give us, Karen, and I hope everyone is having a creative day.

Daily walks take me to the most beautiful local locations between Columbia & Berkshire Counties. The historic sites along the Shaker Loop Trail include this fantastic rushing waterfall and fresh flowing stream surrounded by moss covered rocks. The view of greening Berkshires from our Vista walk is spectacular with 4 hawks circling overhead. And the colorful tulips and tiny forget-me-nots are abloom here at Maison Collage & Jardin! Cat Collage is always part of my Collage Marathon! Im working on an altered photo magazine full of collage cats in a famous art museum setting. I just completed the cover and titled it “ Meow Mix” cuz it’s a funny collection of cats with cat-itude, fashion pizazz and artful poses in the Sol Le Witt Gallery. By me. It’s always fun to delve into the humorous world of cat & paste!! We got a lot of laughs at the marathon paging through this opus. This is collage I make just for myself. On day 1, I completed this collage that began in my imagination with one image, the botanical illustration of the tropical Durian plant & fruit. My eclectic collage stash provided me with all the other components to build the complexity of the collage.Part nostalgia, part tropical fantasy, the combination of materials prompted my use of juxtaposition & scale. My 12”x12” mixed media collage will be on display and purchasable at @berkshireartcenter at the “Collage Marathon Art Show” -Opening May 9 on World Collage Day, with new collage art by all participating artists in our collaborative. This is a spring inspired collage that I made on Day 2, for display and purchase at the group exhibit to Open on World Collage Day May 9th. My Collage Marathon @berkshireartcenter was a fantastic immersion experience in studio art making with an active artist community. To prepare for my 2 day residency, I curated some of my favorite materials and brought them with me to our collaborative studio space at the art center.This piece combines retro fashion with historic botanical illustration & equally historic ornamentation. All 3 of these subjects provide me endless ideas for my collage making. Berkshire Art Center Collage Marathon Residency. My 5th year! We collaged for up to 12 hours a day with other amazing collage artists. 2 days. 12 hours each day, for a potential of 24 hours, I only did a total of 14 hours. 7 hours each day.
