💐Happy Mother’s Day from Kartemquin! 💐 Many of us wouldn’t be where we are today without the unwavering support of our mothers. CAAMFest coincides with Mother’s Day, so we asked our latest Zhao-Chen Family AAPI Voices Fund grantees attending the fest, and LA Asian Pacific Film Fest last week, to reflect on their mothers and/or being mothers themselves. @kayleenrkim @ummascut @mwoograttan @yongshuling @caamedia @vcmediaorg #mothersday #moms #mother #femalefilmmakers motherfilmmakers

✨CAAMFest 2026! ✨ Kartemquin filmmakers past and present attended the kick off to the annual Center for Asian-American Media film festival where we resonated with the theme of this year’s event: BAD ASIANS, GOOD TROUBLE The Opening Film “The A-List” by Eugene Yi highlighted 15 stories from fearless Asian-American leaders including Sandra Oh, Kumail Ali Nanjiani and Illinois senator Tammy Duckworth. Afterwards, we attended the Opening Night Gala at the Asian Art Museum by way of driverless cars Waymo, slightly nerve wracking but fun! The Closing Night film will feature Kartemquin’s own “Traces of Home” by the inimitable filmmaker Colette Ghunim. We’re sure there won’t be a dry eye for Sunday’s sold it show 😿 More to come, watch this space! @tracesofhome @cocos.sanctuary (DVID) @yongshuling (DVID, AAPI Grantee 2026) @mwoograttan (AAPI Grantee 2026) @elihillerphoto (DVID) @_cindymartin_ (DVID, Supervising Producer Zhao-Chen Family AAPI Voices Fund) @caamedia @sapana3000 @anothereugeneyi #documentary #films #aapi #caamfest #badasiansgoodtrouble

WE GOT AN AWARD! Thank you so much @mkefilm , for the Emerging Documentary Jury Award! We are so grateful to receive this award from such a great Midwest film festival and to showcase All of the Above in such beautiful historical theaters in Milwaukee—it has been a dream come true! Our gratitude goes to our crew, supporters, family and friends – without whom this film wouldn’t be possible. And thank you to jury members Paige Bethmann @impaigebee , Cayla Clements and William Howell @williamhfilms for awarding us this honor. Producer Lily Qi made it to the award ceremony in Milwaukee and marked the occasion with a celebratory photo alongside the iconic mouse at Mars Cheese Castle, keeping the Wisconsin spirit alive.
