Legendary Karl Perazzo — Carlos Santana’s band member — honored at #NAMM2026 with the Latin Percussion Lifetime Achievement Award. 🧡
The award was presented by Santana vocalist, and longtime friend and collaborator @andyvargasofficial , who has seen Perazzo as a mentor. Vargas spoke on behalf of Carlos and Cindy Santana and the entire band:“He’s not just a master of that percussion, he is a guide, and someone whose spirit has touched my family and me deeply,” Vargas said before formally handing Perazzo the honor. He later added that presenting the award was “one of the most meaningful moments of my life,” praising Perazzo’s enduring influence, generosity, and legacy.

Yesterday at the NAMM Show I had the honor of receiving Latin Percussions Lifetime Achievement Award.
It was an emotional day, one I’ll never forget. I felt surrounded by love and support, not only from friends but from my peers and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who came out and to all the messages I’ve received from around the world.
A special thanks to @andyvargasfoundation the incredible introduction, and every staff member of @lpmusicofficial@dwdrums@rolandglobal@roland_vdrums who made this moment possible.
This award means more than words can say.
I dedicate it to the kid who shined shoes just to buy his first LP instrument.
Humbled. Grateful. Blessed to be a musician and your friend. I also want to thank Dorian Zuleta for being an amazing friend
It was an incredibly meaningful moment of my life to stand there and present Karl Perazzo with the Lifetime Achievement Award at NAMM.
