A year ago I was preparing to have surgery to take metalwork out of my leg after I broke my shinbone soon after knee surgery in 2024. Yesterday I completed the @londonmarathon in 5:27:24 and had a blast! Hadn’t been sure I was going to do it until the last few weeks of training. It was a genuine joy until the later miles when I’ve never felt anything go on for so long and every body part hurting! I don’t know what I would’ve done without the crowds. London is absolutely amazing and I’m so proud of this city ❤️ Keeping me going on the route was my husband at Mile 20 and my son & his girlfriend at Miles 14 & 22 ❤️❤️❤️ 🫶 And the messages of support from those who couldn’t make it 🫶 Kudos to my dear friend @helenajwilkinson raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital who started in a different wave at the other start and we never managed to link up. Lesson learned! Thank you, London, for this unforgettable experience in the best city in the world! 🌍 🇬🇧 #myfirstmarathon #londonmarathon2026 #lovelondon #running
