First go at data sonification, creating MIDI from annual global temperature data from HadCRUT.5.1.0.0 analysis summary series and turning the changing values into sound, so that warmer and cooler years can be heard as changes in the music. In simple terms, each year in the dataset becomes a note, and the overall pattern of rising and falling temperature anomalies is translated into changes in pitch and loudness over time. The HadCRUT5 dataset itself comes from a major climate record produced by the Met Office Hadley Centre in collaboration with the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, and it combines land air temperatures and sea surface temperatures to show how global temperature has changed over time.
