COME SEE ME AS A PATIENT! 🥰 * If you need GYN SURGERY, for things like: #endometriosis #adenomyosis #fibroids #ovariancysts #genderaffirmingcare #tuballigation #bilateralsalpingectomy #sterilization #uterinepolyps #labiaplasty * If you've been looking for a Gynecologist who will listen, believe you when you explain your symptoms and your goals for your health, and discuss all of your options in a judgment-free way ❤️ * If you've been trying to get a tubal sterilization or medically necessary hysterectomy but have been turned down because you're child-free or in your 20's * If you're struggling with perimenopause/menopause, PCOS, PMDD, or other complex hormonal conditions and want a balanced approach to management * If you've been waiting months for a Gyn appointment (we can get you in within days!) * If you need TIME with your doctor to tell your story, get detailed explanations and options, and ask questions (my new patient consults are about an hour long!) I'm here for you! 🥰 My nurse, Tamika, and I pride ourselves on welcoming patients and treating them with care, kindness, and you will always be centered in your own medical treatment - as it should be! Those of you who are my patients and/or have had surgery with me know how smooth and comfortable it can be! 💖 My office is in Bryn Mawr, PA, but we've already had patients from Massachusetts, CT, New York, and obviously from nearby states like NJ and DE. This area is beautiful - and worth a road trip to get the care you need! 🚗✈️ We're out of network with insurances, and I've explained that this is because it's impossible to spend this amount of time with patients in the office and in the OR for complex surgeries and pay overhead, unless you're employed by an academic medical center. BUT if you have out of network benefits with your insurance, you can get reimbursed - so it may be about the same cost as an in network provider! Our website THRIVEGYN.COM has all the information you need, and you can request an appointment through the website, and Tamika will call you right away! 🥰 Please share, and I'm excited to see you in the office soon! ❤️

IT'S NOT HYSTERIA!! 😍🥳📚 I'm bursting with excitement - we have a cover for the US version of my book, and pre-orders are open!! 📢 It took me a year to write, re-write, rip apart and re-write again, but FINALLY the book is done, and I couldn’t be more proud of it. It’s a guide to *everything* in gynecology - fibroids, endometriosis/adenomyosis, PCOS, pelvic floor issues, PMS/PMDD, infertility, miscarriage, sexual dysfunction, vulvovaginal problems, prolapse, incontinence, gender diversity, intersex, birth control, hysterectomies, cancer, abortion - truly everything that you wish you’d learned about your body years ago, in one place, with a gorgeous cover! I also included chapters on the history of women’s health (and how we haven’t actually come that far from the ancient Greeks or witch hunts…) as well as chapters for self-reflection and questions to ask yourself and your doctor. I truly want IT’S NOT HYSTERIA to create a movement and get everyone talking about reproductive health so we can increase awareness, and so people can stop feeling alone when they’re struggling with health problems that millions of others actually share. ❤️ I also want the public to know how shitty it is that women’s health has been so ludicrously underresearched and hopefully help to increase research and support for these super common and sometimes physically and emotionally debilitating conditions! You can pre-order through the LINK IN MY BIO - or order from your favorite local indie bookstore or library! Pre-orders are incredibly important for showing publishers and bookstores that there’s an interest in a book. 🥰 Thank you all so very much for all of your support, and I can’t wait for you to read IT’S NOT HYSTERIA when it comes out on May 7th! I’m so excited to dive into conversations with you all about the book. Please share with anyone that you think would want or need this resource! (For UK Commonwealth and Spanish language friends, stay tuned! I’ll have information for covers and ordering in those countries in the next few months! And fingers crossed for other translations) @flatiron_books @parkandfine

Me, and all the other healthcare workers / eldest daughters / introverts with ADHD. 😂 I feel attacked! We're trained (in life, and in medicine) to be calm, cool, problem-solving machines who can handle terrifying life or death situations... But apparently most of us are also introverts who can't deal with talking on the phone, clearing out our email inbox, etc. 😅 I would also say: parents, teachers, other first responders, etc? 😉 Anyone else? 👀 Stitch: @stephaniepisme on TikTok

I was supposed to spend all of today writing, so I could finish my 2nd book (all about hormones, including problems like PCOS and insulin resistance!! 😉) but I HAD to jump on this one...! We've been waiting *forever* for PCOS to get a name change. It was the worst name ever 🥴, and didn't even come close to explaining what the problem actually was, which is a *complex, metabolic, inflammatory, whole body condition involving many hormones throughout the brain and body*! 😱 - 75-85% of people with PCOS will have insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes - It can increase risk of medical problems like high cholesterol, heart disease, sleep apnea, infertility, depression, even cancer - and it's NOT just because of obesity, as many people with PCOS of all body sizes have these conditions! So perhaps the name change to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) will help get more people accurately diagnosed AND legitimize it as a "serious" medical condition on par with diabetes, which will hopefully help raise awareness, funding, research 👏🔥 If you want to learn more, I have a chapter on PCOS, now PMOS, in my book, IT'S NOT HYSTERIA! 📚 Comment BOOK for the link ⤵️ Folks with PCOS, medical professionals - what do you think? 👀

Nothing like telling people to just have more babies, when they * Can't get OB care AT ALL in more than half of rural counties! 🥺 * Can't afford medical insurance * Have no paid maternity leave or affordable childcare * People have job and food insecurity * They're scared about the state of the world on a hundred fronts "Underbabied" 😣...

Wanted to update this one, since my kids are bigger now! 🥰 And it's obviously a joke that I think I deserve all the credit - you can literally see my husband directing the troops in the background 🤪. I couldn't do all the crazy stuff I get to do (write these books, give these talks, run my own practice) without the help of my husband and my parents!! ❤️ Special shout-out to my own mother, who makes dinner for all of us twice a week, and basically buys all my kids' clothing and shoes 😊. Love you, mom! And I'll post the 1st take in my Stories, where my son immediately knocked my phone over - that's more how things actually go here 😂 Happy Mother's Day!! And also sending love to everyone who is trying to become a mother, or who is missing their mother ❤️ Audio obviously by the one and only @snoopdogg 🔥

I honestly would love to know how Ivermectin, of all things, has been latched onto as this wonder drug that treats *everything* and has no risks!? 😳 I feel like I was literally just explaining this during the COVID pandemic... * Sure, the scientists who discovered ivermectin were given the Nobel Prize... because it treats PARASITIC INFECTIONS like River Blindness. The parasitic disease part was literally the main point of the Nobel Prize announcement. 🙄 * It is not an effective treatment for COVID 19! There were randomized studies and Cochrane reviews - it doesn't add anything to just standard treatments alone, the FDA didn't find that it was effective enough to approve/recommend it for COVID treatment. 🤷‍♀️ * IT DOES NOT TREAT CANCER!!! Small studies of cells in a lab or a rat doesn't translate to safety or effectiveness in specific cancers in humans. 😱 * No legitimate physician / scientist would make a claim like this without data. You can't conjecture that because something has an effect on other viruses, bacteria, cells in a lab or a rat, that it'll have a *specific, significant effect* on something else! 😠 You have to create well-designed studies to prove that it does. PLEASE spread the word! I'm sure people are out there stockpiling livestock ivermectin right now 😩

Don't panic about Hantavirus! But maybe - MAYBE - pulling out of the @who , and gutting USAID, leading to the loss of *thousands* 🥺😱😭 of WHO public health workers, researchers, epidemiologists puts ALL of us at more risk when it comes to safely and effectively handling outbreaks like this! Having an effective, coordinated, expert-led public health effort is the key to keeping us safe! ❤️ If you were scared about the headlines about Hantavirus, we need to support the WHO and our international public health efforts! As a physician who also has a Masters in Public Health, I know how critically important our public health workers are! For my fellow Americans, I don't know how much our government will actually listen to us on issues like rejoining the WHO, but we have to think about these issues when voting and choosing our government leaders! 😣 Please share! 🙏There's a LOT of fear-based reporting on this story, and the punchline is really getting lost 😩 Resources: * WHO Hantavirus Fact Sheet

Period Trackers ≠ Birth Control! 😱 #Ad Traditional period tracking apps and cycle tracking features within larger wellness apps were NOT DESIGNED TO PREVENT PREGNANCY! Many of them don’t account for differences in ovulation timing between different users, or changes in ovulation that can occur month to month. As a doctor who understands this, I was really happy when I heard @naturalcycles - the only FDA-clear birth control app - was looking at 540,000 (!) cycles, comparing outcomes for period tracker apps (calendar based as well as ones that use basal body temperature (BBT) data). But even I was slightly shocked by the numbers - calendar-based period trackers had a pregnancy failure risk that was *44 times* higher than the Natural Cycles app! 🤯 NC° Birth Control is different because it evaluates pregnancy risk every day, and adapts when ovulation changes. If cycles are irregular, it will extend the fertile window during which users should avoid intercourse or use another form of protection, in order to maintain the same safety margins. It’s designed specifically to prevent pregnancy, adjusts based on your unique data, and is backed by years of clinical evidence! So if you’re looking for an app that prevents pregnancy and works with your body’s own cycles, but is actually rigorously tested and regulated for that purpose - that’s NC° Birth Control! Visit Naturalcycles.com to learn more. NOTE: Natural Cycles is for users 18+ and does not protect against STIs. Always read and follow the instructions for use. #NaturalCycles #NaturalCyclesPartner #calendarmethod #naturalfamilyplanning fertilityawareness fertilityawarenessmethod birthcontrol contraception periodtrackers
