Between @champagnepapi and Lil Wayne showing me so much love over the past couple weeks, I’m telling you I’m just grateful to keep receiving these flowers while I’m alive to smell them. All praises due. No pun intended. No gimmicks or marketing or viral moments will ever get you the respect of the people. Earning the respect from the people you respect is the greatest gift. …thank you🙏🏿

Living to this age has taught me a lot. The most important things: trust God, listen to your heart, there are only wins and learnings,and don’t forget to love and take care of yourself, while spreading love to friends, family, your community and your culture. A few of the greatest feelings I’ve ever felt: every one of my children’s births, my wedding reception, performing for Nelson Mandela, running with the Olympic Torch, having my dad at one of my shows and him seeing me rock before he passed, seeing my mom survive a coma that they said she probably wouldn’t come out of, receiving my two honorary degrees, hearing my song at the end of Chappelle’s Netflix Special equanimity, performing in front of 300,000 people in the South of Spain, having my family present while receiving the Allan Slaight award on the Canadian Walk of Fame, killing 106 n park, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars with my wife and taking kids mostly from underserved communities, signing my first record deal with MCA records in LA a few weeks after my dad passed away, having Lil Wayne rap my Grinding verse to me back in 2005 when I met him and, and seeing a lot of my heroes become comrades… even in thinking about this exercise, I realized that I only listed about 2% of the LEGENDARY stories that I’ve experienced in my life. I am now older than my dad was when he passed away. It makes me understand how young he was and how grateful I am to live every single day. Love makes many people uncomfortable, but saying it and showing it satisfies my spirit. I want some things from life, but I need nothing. I am living in gratitude every single day and the smile I wear is that of a man who has seen the beauty, power and truth of what God can do if you believe and trust in him. Everything else doesn’t matter. Happy heavenly birthday to my birthday twin @bishopbrigante . We never got to have that joint party. Rest well. Thank you to everyone who has ever exchanged a good word, dap, hug, encouragement, created an opportunity, supported me, defended my honour in private rooms, lifted me up unprompted, and who included me in their prayers. Shower the comments with flowers for a living legend. Glenn Lewis is one of the best R&B singers to walk the planet earth. When I tell you that I am so happy for him and proud of him, and I am in awe at how he still sounds exactly the same way decades later. This morning I understood what it felt like to be truly happy for somebody. When I saw this video, I smiled one of the biggest smiles that I ever smiled for someone that wasn’t blood related to me. He is not signed to any major label-he is working harder than I’ve ever seen him work in his entire career and deserves to be celebrated as one of the great R&B kings that he is. What God has for so someone, nobody can stop, YOU HEAR ME?! Apparently this song comes out on May 22nd. Until then, this clip will be on repeat! Knowing people’s journeys, and then seeing how they overcome and move like Kings is very inspiring, and shows me exactly what God can do! I am a lover of good music and a massive fan of @glennlewis365 I AM HYPE FOR THIS ONE!!!🪷💐🌼🌻🌷🌺🌸

Man, as my birthday is coming up and I’m reflecting at this monumental time in my life, it is a MASSIVE blessing to hear your name ring off when you are not in the room and the love and respect that comes with it. Years ago, some people use to try and sneak diss for always representing both Toronto AND Jamaica in my music and the way that I carry my legacy-but it’s been super important to me to big up my family and our culture at all times. I am proud of always wearing my 🇯🇲 flag on my heart, no matter who has something to say. Dem cyaa style Jamaica-yuh crazy?? Big up the super legends @bujubanton @jadakiss and the 1 they call @fatjoe ‼️Jamaicans and people of Jamaican descent have contributed a MEGA amount to hip-hop.
