This year final presentation of my Butoh students from the performing arts master degree at the Nova University in Lisbon. It is always so rewarding to see the transformation of the group from the 1st class to the last. How their presence grows and deepens, how their physicality transforms, how their togetherness becomes so powerful. Butoh is not a technique, it is a philosophy that allow us to reflect onour fragile place on this magical planet, that allows us to question, research, dig deep into our origins and existence, connect to ourselves and the world around us, through darkness and light, give us tools of transformation and growth. The performance was political, and included my research into the âone bodyâ, the angel of history inspired by Paul Klee and the text of Walter Benjamine, and the dance for freedom, rebuilding the destruction with hope. I felt proud! Thank you to all who participated and who came to share this unique experience at Sala Nobre. đđŒâšđïž#butohworkshop #pergormance #dancetheatre

The rest is in those colourful pictures⊠there was a lot of laughter, a lot of metamorphoses, a lot of fun and exhaustion on this journey from the inside-out and from the outside-in. A Ship of Fools Workshop
Workshop · Friday 19 June · 15:00â18:00
What if every part of you had a voice? In this workshop, each participant explores their inner âship of foolsâ â a constellation of characters that shape who we are. Through character-based exercises, movement and play, these voices begin to emerge, interact and tell their stories. A journey through archetypes, where the comic and the tragic meet, and the personal becomes collective.
The workshop is led by Yael Karavan, an award-winning international performer, director and teacher working across Butoh, clown, mime, object theatre and physical theatre. Her practice weaves together diverse cultural influences, exploring memory, transformation and the cycles that define human experience.
Teaching worldwide since 1999, Yael creates spaces where imagination, depth and humour coexist â inviting participants into a process that is intimate, poetic and deeply transformative.
NOMORE is a new project by two âartivistâ women against war, against violence, against polarization and discrimination.
NOMORE transforms our frustration into art, between a cello and a body, sound and movement, the search for hope.
