I reached out to many folks I have had the pleasure to take photos of over the years for pay and trade, asking them for testimonial blurbs. My original intention in doing so was to further legitimize my set pricing and increase confidence in prospective clients regarding the value of my time, service, and product.
What I didn't expect or prepare for was the immense gratitude, deep pride, and an overwhelming emotion of what I can only describe as being "touched" or "moved" in reading these statements. What I didn't expect was that these thoughtful and beautiful endorsements would so keenly validate for ME that the values and intentions I have associated with this work, this art, this love of mine -beginning when I got my first Big Girl camera at 16- have been and are being fulfilled in the experiences of those I have the honor of capturing photographically.
I want to express my sincere gratitude not only for these statements but for the trust in partnering with me to capture you, your effervescent beauty, your treasured memories, your endearing idiosyncrasies. Thank you for your openness to my at times wild ideas; for getting your shins scratched by desert brush or letting me smear you with glitter. Thank you for allowing me to use these images in my body of work, and most importantly, for contributing to my development as an artist and person.
