That perfection continues in Kapten Batik’s modern wear, where the essence of craftsmanship is still carefully preserved.
Behind each creation lies a series of key processes — waxing, dyeing, and drying.
Waxing — Designs are stamped with hot wax using copper blocks to block dye, sometimes repeated for more complex batik patterns.
Dyeing — To create multi-colored batik, waxed fabric is dyed, treated to remove color from unwaxed areas, and then washed to stop the process.
Drying — The fabric is air-dried in the shade on bamboo poles or racks to keep it flat and prevent fading from natural dyes.

This year’s Labour Day, we would like to highlight one of our loyal staff, and Amir is one of them.
With experience in the retail game from a young age, Amir has proven that age is just a number. One of his most iconic moments was during Kapten Batik’s Sogo days, when he managed to recall all the shirt names when the founders dropped by — without even knowing they were the key figures behind the brand.
Amir, who has grown alongside Kapten Batik, has experienced the world of artisanal crafts and has a deep personal interest in studying local culture.
His hospitality and knowledge are exceptional, leading him to be elevated as the brand’s Area Manager — spearheading our retail front and ensuring customers experience the true essence of Kapten Batik.

Having been with Kapten Batik for 8 years, Saiful has seen the growth of the brand — from the bazaar days up until now, where he leads the management of our prestigious, resort-styled flagship boutique at The Gardens Mall.
Personally interested in the brand’s early direction, Saiful was able to foresee its future while holding on to its core values, prioritising hospitality and delivering the best retail experience to his clients/customers. That is his specialty.
