A little workroom tour. If you want to get ahead with your Christmas shopping, there's still a bit of time to order a bespoke sculpture, so get in touch if you'd like something
How strong are my sculptures? I'm testing the sturdiness of my paper sculptures with pumpkins! I gave up at 4 kilograms. I think that's strong enough, don't you? Should I try to test the limits? I'd be sad to actually squish one, but i think there's a way to go before that happens. 🧐
It always makes me feel super self conscious to post a photo of myself, so I rarely ever do, but I haven't for a while, so I thought I'd pop my head out from behind my paper sculptures to say hello instagram pals! Here's my awkward face with one of my barn owl paper sculptures. And my workroom is rather messy behind me. It's November; there is no time for tidying! 😅 But this is the human who makes these sculptures. I am a paper artist, bird nerd, introvert, vegan, left winged optimist who loves rain, hates crowds, and has more allergies than you've had hot dinners 😊 And that's enough socialising for this hermit, I'll see you again in a few years 😁
Making the most of the garden blooms for a photoshoot 😊 These pink lily of the valley go so nicely with the long tailed tit mama and baby. The entire house smells so lovely from the tiny little bells!
Bluebells 💙🔔 You never want to hear them ring, because that means fairies are up to no good.
There are Spanish bluebells in the garden, blooming all over the place. It's been a while since I've seen English ones.
I'm doing a spot of DIY in my workroom, which includes putting up a shelf in this sunspot by the window so I can take photos of my standing sculptures. The sunlight really show all the different shades of black on the feathers of this raven. I've used lots of different metallic lustres, so there are hints of silver, blue, purple and copper in his black plumage.
Lily of the valley season is upon us. The garden smells incredible! I wish my sculptures smelled the same! I make tiny lily of the valley blooms as a mini bouquet or as a little wreath.
A happy little goldcrest on a wreath of crisp white hydrangea. Goldcrests are such pretty little birds. One of the smallest we have here. And i always enjoy trying to emulate them. Collaging those fiddly little stripes on his wing feathers are always a challenge for my fingers 😉
The restocking of my website shop is well under way this week, and this little fella is the latest bird to be added. I'm rather fond of his hydrangea wreath of baby pinks and purples and blues. I like a mottled colourway 😁
Making freesias 😁 My website is sadly lacking in paper blooms at the moment, so keep your eyes peeled for a flower update at the end of the week! What paper flowers would you like to see in the update?
