Vinyl/CD Spring of '94 Open Mic Workshop Founded in 1994 by Executive Producers Aceyalone & Abstract Rude as A-Team Productions.
The project never would have happened without these key ingredients:
-A-Team's drive, determination and $ (they literally pawned every possession they owned). Both appear the most times on the project 6 each, wrote the code, sector code & physically used scissors to make the photo collage...Ab Rude chose the bulb logo & font w/ the GR art dept - Acey's sister let them list her PO Box
-The Artists & their Producers who donated 🎶 & 📸 to the comp
-The late great Digiak who owned an ADAT home studio, acted as head engineer & even produced several of the classics on here along with Fatjack, CVE, EQB Vic Hop & #nowplaying The Nonce
-Eric Gotland mixing engineer at Hollywood Sound hired by Capitol, also Tower Mastering, our secret finishing sound sauce
-Grand Royal, ATU's label at the time owned & operated by Mike D himself, also Acey's label Capital (which was distro for GR at the time, A&R Kim Buie) kicked in $ from the artists' LPs marketing funds to press the CDs & Vinyl and send them to national and global record pools & key radio djs & press - which helped get the word out.
- This was maybe the 1st rap record that had 7 dope women rapping on it respected and valued equally with their male counterparts...one group Figures of Speech with Jyant and Eve pka today as the great Ava Duvernay, so Project Blowed (via the teachings of B. Hall and Ifasade of @thegoodlifehealthfoodcentre ) single handedly raised the bar for female empowerment in Rap Music with this compilation way back in '94!
-Ben Caldwell who opened his doors for the collective to migrate to his @kaosnetworkz
venue in Leimert Park Dec 15, 1994
-The late great Bigga B booked their 1st show in '94 as A-Team performing songs from the compilation to a ravaging crowd who ate it alive
-Honey Presents booked their 1st show in '96 in SF as A-Team where they gave out 100 tapes for free
-@awolone plugged us w/Martin's & TRC to sell product!

ABOUT SABAR: Sabar is a traditional drumming and dance practice from Senegal, rooted in community, celebration, and storytelling. Played with one hand and one stick, it creates dynamic, high-energy rhythms that connect deeply with movement and expression.
