Almost 10 years ago, my brother and I pulled off this lovely Mother’s Day surprise. She retired from American Airlines, so she always handled flight arrangements for anyone going anywhere in the family. This day, he and I pooled our resources, found a flight, purchased a ticket (…which was new, cause we’d only known flying via Buddy passes, lol…), planned a pickup and everything w/o her knowing. It was a big deal. She always knew everything.
I’m so grateful we were able to do this. I am also grateful I recorded it. Her surprise was genuine. Her screams were real. Her joy was palpable. I think my body started to mourn this day before my mind could catch up. Giving myself grace and space to feel however as I navigate this first Mother’s Day w/o my mom. Remembering this moment, just hearing her voice has brought such comfort. 🥲

Are you ready? I'm personally excited to simply share music that I think is cool with others. Most of us don't get to hear the songs we truly enjoy out at most venues because it's easy to follow what's "worked" and just play top 40 radio records. I'm stepping way out of my comfort zone and jumping straight in to playing some jams. I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and come move and shake to the vibes...
