My newest painting:
“Eternal Waters”
30x40” acrylic on canvas
Drink from the spring of eternal life 💧
And you shall never thirst again
This painting was made over the course of 4 years. I started it in 2018 and is the fifth and last of my Tree of Life series, a whopping journey between 2017-22. I was away from it over a year and a half during Covid and finally got it back and have been chipping away at it for a few months. And at voila it’s here to share with you all!
From the wellsprings of heaven, flow the holy waters of life down through the Tree of Life and into the centre, to the fountain of youth, flowing further into the vast sea of our consciousness. To either side is Mt Shasta and Wollumbin, two sacred mountains dear to my heart.
The rest of the symbolism is for you to find :)
Check it out on my website on the computer to get a high res peep at it!

Secret: the Japanese is actually a ramen recipe…. Just kidding 😆
But I do need to introduce you to my friend Sanae Tani - @sana_bee88 - who came through with a masterpiece of Japanese calligraphy.
Sana is a calligraphy artist and all around awesome human.
Let me tell you. Sana poured her complete and entire soul into this.
From writing an incredible poem in Japanese
To creating an entirely new cursive writing style
To designing each character with intent and finesse.
If you don’t write Japanese, I want you to know, it’s a deeep language. Sana works on many layers of nuance and multiple meanings; layering all the different symbols, words and phrases into a rich poetic tapestry far too elaborate to articulate using english. You’ll see the poem on the previous reel.
So I want to really tip my hat to the dedication and devotion Sana put into making this painting. She spent way more time on it than I did.
Unfortunately, we can’t enter it as our first Archibald Prize entry because she was living outside Australia for 3 months… which sucks… but this might be the start of a new body of work. Who’s keen to see more?
So tell us, what do you think of this work?

“Peace | 平和 | Heiwa”
By Kai Wilder & Sanae Tani
Acrylic and aerosol on canvas
48” x 60” | 122cm x 154cm
2025
.
In this modern world, the only place to truly find peace, is within. The stunning poetic calligraphy is by my friend Sana @sana_bee88 - below is it translated from Japanese
.
Listen quietly, my soul.
Feel the rippling of the deep sea within you.
It is a place of rest, filled with gentle, peaceful light.
‘O flickering flame, burn on without fear.
Though your fire may be fleeting, it shall never truly fade.
Fear not the shadows cast by sparks of pride. The shadows shape your contours. They add depth and meaning.
Because of darkness, the light shines even brighter.
Your unique flame is a light,
resplendent like no other.
So please, slowly, my soul, keep burning on… forever.

The sky is the limit
Dream big. Pray for your success And when your prayers are answered.
Be ready and willing to put in the work.
Freedom = responsibility
Your purpose fuels the fire. It’s your North Stai
Align your purpose with your god given gifts to make a better world.
If you don’t know what your purpose is Get out there. find t and pray for it.
All things are possible when you do something for the greater good, for god, for humanity and not just for your own success and money.
All things are possible when you do it with faith
And if you don’t have faith in god, or you can’t stand the word god and use a hopelessly under-descriptive word like the universe
Then believe in yourself with all your heart, all your mind, all your body and all your soul.
Love, Kai
Do you struggle with creative momentum? Perhaps the reason is more simple than a creative block!
You’re 80% more likely to do something if it takes you less than 20 seconds to initiate it.
The same applies to the inverse.
The solution? Have a designated space to create. A space where you can make a mess. And leave it that way.
How do we know this 20 second rule?
A university tested simple solutions for people to wanted to stop watching television. One guy simply stashed the remote. He’d sit on the couch, reach for the remote and it’s not there… it’s far away up in a shelf in his bedroom. Sigh. And read a book instead. Easy.
The same applies for healthy habits you’re trying to pick up, like painting and drawing more often.
Always have a sketch book on hand, and always have a designated space in your house as your art studio.
And always show up even if it’s for an hour a day.
Momentum builds confidence.

Today we pay our respects to the original people of Australia. This painting, is about the freedom and deep magic the ancient people here in Bundjalung country, the northern rivers, lived with. It’s about how initiated men and women knew how to fly.
💛❤️🖤
I also celebrate all the positive things that make up what Australia is too. As tainted as much of our history is, there is much good this country has to offer, and many wonderful people out there from many racial backgrounds. Fly the Aussie flag if you wish, be proud of your country. But always pay your respects to the original people and their suffering and all other blood sweat and tears shed that wrought this country into being. And especially, he hyper aware of the state of it today. Protect our freedom against oppression.
Do it for the children. Do it for our future. Do it for peace on earth.
One people, one earth, one future of peace
🖤💛❤️
