Meet the B Team! Between 1991 and 1999, B Team had an energetic in-flux roster of members, who then dispersed into a constellation of artists, entrepreneurs, and educators. The upcoming reunion at the GAS conference in Corning will bring together 10 members, many of whom will be working together for the first time. Kait Rhoads is known for her innovative use of Venetian blown-glass techniques, which she has applied to sculpture, limited-edition jewelry, and public art. Kait received a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design, an MFA from Alfred University, and a Fulbright grant to study sculpture in Murano, Italy. She maintains a studio in Seattle, Washington. Ian Lewis is another Seattle-based glassblower and photographer with deep roots in the city's glass art community. After receiving his BFA from MassArt and an MFA from Alfred University, Ian spent 20 years as a glassblower at Dale Chihuly Inc. Now he is concentrating on photography and videography, specializing in visual storytelling for artists and fine art.

Belated happy Bull Kelp day❤️❤️❤️ Bull Kelp is so important for our Salish Sea ecosystem - and therefore to us. This is Bloom - initially made specifically for the large two-story windows at the Bainbridge Island Art Museum in 2018, purchased by @artswa for Highline College in Des Moines, WA in 2023. Now it lives in the biology department there.

Form: Soft SculptureYear Created: 201815’ x 8’ x 8’ Blown glass, into steel molds, pulled out into tubing, cut, heated in a kiln, woven together with copper wire onto a stainless steel frame work. This is public art commissioned by Metro Parks Tacoma for the Pacific Seas Aquarium @ptdefiancezoo It took a village to create the art work, i’m so thankful for @hilltopartists ‘ help and participation in its production. Pictured here are @amazrim and @gmanonfire helping with the construction of the artwork. Even though the sculptures are large scale with stainless steel armatures, each one weighed less than 100 pounds! #

Blue Dome - 1995 I made the glass scales and metal armature for this sculpture while an EAIR at @pilchuckglassschool in 1994. Industrial plate, glass, cut, drilled, enameled and slumped. Woven together with binding wire. Woven onto a forged steel armature. The last time this piece was shown was @museumofglass at the time, Instagram existed. I was able to see my sculpture through the eyes of others. It was used for a lot of selfies and at least two dating profiles that were reported to me. I made this sculpture to emulate the feeling of being underwater and the quality of light when you are underwater. I feel strongly that we need to focus our global energy towards healing our blue planet.
