a short description: As a trans man, I feel my development and growth in terms of understanding myself is very complex. For my paintings, I chose to depict this complexity through the usage of collaged images as a reference, implementing transparencies throughout the works to describe my journey of navigating life. My thesis paintings depict a parallel universe showing my present self taking care of and nurturing my younger self, alluding to the potential for a more fulfilling and secure upbringing with the conversation of LGBTQ+ topics included. Through my time at FIT, I have been developing my thought process and ideas to align with what I feel is my purpose in painting: to speak to other queer individuals who feel unrepresented in the art world, which is still dominated by cis-gendered white men.
very excited to show you all what i've been working on! come check out the "all at once" showcase featuring thesis work from the FIT fine arts class of 2023, opening reception on may 16th from 5-8 🫶
