here are my final thesis paintings! so thankful for my time here at FIT and everything i have learned, and so incredibly proud of all my peers for putting on such an incredible show! a short description: As a trans man, I feel my development and growth in terms of understanding myself is very complex. For my paintings, I chose to depict this complexity through the usage of collaged images as a reference, implementing transparencies throughout the works to describe my journey of navigating life. My thesis paintings depict a parallel universe showing my present self taking care of and nurturing my younger self, alluding to the potential for a more fulfilling and secure upbringing with the conversation of LGBTQ+ topics included. Through my time at FIT, I have been developing my thought process and ideas to align with what I feel is my purpose in painting: to speak to other queer individuals who feel unrepresented in the art world, which is still dominated by cis-gendered white men.
