29/06/25 - Kai MacRae Quartet
Making its first public appearance, the Kai MacRae Quartet is brand new band made up of 4 of the most exciting young musicians on the London Jazz scene. Presenting a set made up of original music as well tunes by Horace Silver, Gary Bartz, Joe Henderson and others.
The quartet plays with a fiery, swinging intensity that focuses on interplay and group interaction.
Born in China and raised between Beijing and London, Kai MacRae is an up and coming drummer on the London Jazz scene. With a sound rooted in the Jazz tradition, he is inventing an original voice and sound on the drums, inspired by his mentors and heroes.

The time has come! My debut album will be coming out this autumn, recorded last Jan ‘24 with my wonderful trio and friends @tobyyappmusic 🎻 & @kai_macrae 🥁, also featuring the master @toussaintsax 🎷. It features 6 compositions of mine and is dedicated to my beautiful step mother Dawn who passed away last July ‘24, she was always encouraging me to record and release this so this is for you.❤️
