Lessons From The Land officially has a logo!
The camp logo is designed to capture the spirit of the camp in one image: people living in harmony with the land around them.
Our camp logo was designed and hand drawn by our very own Kahentísa’s Alfred, Environmental Education Liaison and Camp Coordinator for Lessons From The Land. Beyond her work with the camp, she is a traditional beadwork artist who also practices weaving, sewing, and quillwork, skills that will be taught in the camp.

Spring Cleanup: Kahnawà:ke Collective Impact Edition 🗑️
Today, our crew rolled up our sleeves and got to work cleaning up near our office. Huge shoutout to @kahnawake.waste.management , @kahnawakeenvironment & @easterndoornewspaper for hooking us up with everything we needed to get started 🙌
Now…let’s talk about what we found:
• Season 1 of Jersey Shore on DVD (a true relic 📀)
• A stack of VHS tapes, even ones from Otiokwa Video. (Shoutout to anyone who remembers the Velcro tags)
• Glassware (from Pyrex to ashtrays)
• And…a dead skunk 💀
Yes, you read that right. And yes, our MVP Kayla handled it like an absolute champion (we’re still recovering just thinking about it).
In just ONE hour, the four of us collected over 8 bags of trash. All from an open lot just steps from our office.
That got us thinking…
What was on that lot before it ended up like this? 🤔
If you know the history, drop it in the comments!
All jokes aside, it’s wild what you can find when you take a closer look at your surroundings.
Let’s keep taking pride in our community and doing our part to keep it clean 💜
If you would like to do your part this Earth Month, consider getting involved in waste monitoring and remediation. 🌎
Organize a cleanup with friends or co-workers, participate in the Eastern Door Annual Spring Cleanup on April 24th, OR use the Cleanup Tracker to share data on areas that you've cleaned or to alert us to illegal dumping sites.
The Cleanup Tracker sends data directly to KEPO including waste contents, severity, exact location, pictures and more. Details on dump sites can also be sent to KEPO through email at [email protected] or by calling 450-635-0600.
🚨Alert the Peacekeepers if you see illegal dumping in progress.
