Wrapping up the Portuguese Surf Film Festival @surffilm with a few glimpses behind the scenes, from my visual identity work to the Ocean Art Exhibition curated by @bibirigoli .
The exhibition brought together sea-themed works from a range of artists, each interpreting the ocean in their own way.
This year’s visual identity was inspired by the colors of Ericeira – white houses, bold blue accents, and sun-warmed orange rooftops. A stripped-back palette that aimed to feel cinematic, coastal, and distinctly Portuguese.
Proud to have shaped the look and feel of this year’s festival – bold, minimal, and rooted in place.

Apresentamos a Katharina, uma maravilhosa lufada de ar fresco com a sua originalidade, vibração colorida e ética com alma. É uma diretora criativa freelancer, designer gráfica e surfista com um profundo amor pelo mar. Originária de uma pequena ilha no norte da Alemanha, Portugal foi um chamamento tal que a levou a estabelecer-se por cá. O facto de ter crescido junto ao mar continua a ser uma inspiração para ela e a alimentar a sua criatividade. Nas palavras da própria Katharina: “Estou verdadeiramente entusiasmada e honrada por ter sido escolhida para criar a identidade visual do 2025 Portuguese Surf Film Festival.”
Do you remember when we were looking for a new visual artist to join the team? Finally, after a round of interviews, we have chosen our designer for the 2025 season and beyond. Introducing Katharina, who’s a breeze of fresh air with her originality, colourful vibe and soulful ethics. She is a freelance creative director, graphic designer, and surfer with a deep love for the ocean. Originally from a small island in northern Germany, Portugal had a such a call that she now is settled here. Growing up by the sea has remained an inspiration for her and to fuel her creativity. In Katharina’s own words: “I’m truly excited and honored to be chosen to shape the visual identity for the 2025 Portuguese Surf Film Festival.“
