I refuse to watch the KH roast. But I did just see Katt Williams’ set. Not one joke was told. That was all truth. Katt got paid to spit on his enemy in front of his face and force him to laugh at it to save face. Brilliant. Also, that beef ain’t over. It just kicked up a few notches. Well-played, Sir.

Re: JFK and the Raccoon penis Many of us see that this is more than a culture war, it’s spiritual warfare. Coon dick is spiritually powerful in Appalachian/Mountain Magic traditions. Particularly osteomancy (throwing bones) which is also a tradition we participate in and many of our Black Ancestors from that area employed coin dick in their workings. These people are searching for and employing power in as many ways as possible.

A dear friend and colleague stated, “This is a war between white folks. The rest of us are ‘collateral damage.’” It’s fascinating to see how this has everything to do with us while simultaneously having nothing at all to do with us. h/t Kiese Laymon

I’m so proud of my beautiful niece, Isabella, as she is the featured interview in her first (of many) news articles—this time about Beyoncé and Blue Ivy! She recently graduated from Oschner’s STEM Pathfinder program as a future trauma surgeon. She also has her Sweet 16 this past weekend and was absolutely stunning. She is smart, beautiful, and most importantly, genuine and kind. She’s a good kid and I’m so proud of the young lady she has become.

Conjuring Hope was our first activity sponsored by the Earthseed Project Mellon Grant I have with @susiemaye at Georgia Tech. We have a summer reading club in which participants received Octavia Butler’s The Parable Series graphic novels by @johnjenningsart & @damiand2duffy . @msuenglish teamed with @msubealgarden to get folks to read in nature connecting the importance of plants and community to literature. Participants went home with a wild strawberry plant to grow and nurture reflecting the themes in Butler’s work on how to heal ourselves, our community, and our Earth.

Got my cowgirl on last night to see Bey! Her concerts are always a great time and she never disappoints. She is at the top of her game firing on all cylinders. Had niecey poo on deck for her first Beyoncé concert (of many)!

Whenever I’m in Paris, I make time to go to my favorite little restaurant, La Jacobine. The maitre’d recognized me and saved my favorite seat next to the window so I could eat and people watch. He even stopped a couple from trying to slide into my reserved seat after skipping the line…yes, they were. 🙄 This place is black-owned and run and serves simple French peasant food with deep, rich flavors.
